Stovell & Dalhousie Finish Fourth At Nationals
The University of British Columbia won the 2026 CICSA Keelboat National Championship at the Royal Vancouver Yacht Club, while the Dalhousie Sailing Team finished fourth overall after three days of racing on English Bay in Vancouver.
Competing in tactically challenging conditions, the “UBC 1” crew used local knowledge and strong boat handling to secure the national title against a field of 12 collegiate teams.
Dalhousie’s three-person team included Bermudian sailor Nicole Stovell, who recently earned CICSA Female Skipper of the Year honours. Stovell helped guide the Tigers through shifting conditions and congested racing throughout the regatta.
Dalhousie remained in contention for a podium finish until the final day of competition. The fourth-place result followed the program’s performance at the Fleet Race Nationals earlier in the academic year.
Hosted by the Royal Vancouver Yacht Club, the championship took place on waters known for changing tidal currents and coastal winds that tested all competing teams.
