Bermuda Youth Sailors To Compete In Morocco
Youth sailors will be competing at 2026 Optimist World Championship in Morocco, joining over 250 other young sailors from around the world.
A spokesperson said, “Team Bermuda is proud to represent the island at the 2026 Optimist World Championship in Tangier, Morocco.
“Through hard work, dedication, and countless hours of training, these sailors have earned the opportunity to wear Bermuda’s colours on the international stage. As they take on this exciting challenge, they will proudly represent Bermuda while competing against some of the world’s top young sailors. We wish Team BER fair winds, great racing, and an unforgettable experience in Morocco.”
In advance of the event the organisers said, “For the first time since 1996, the championship will be hosted on African soil — a major milestone for both the competition and the development of sailing across the continent. The numbers already confirm the exceptional scale of this edition.
“A total of 292 sailors are currently registered, with participation expected to reach nearly 298 competitors before entries officially close. At the same time, 77 nations are confirmed.
“These unprecedented figures make this one of the most international editions in the history of the World Championship.?
