Results: Round The Island Seagull Race

June 29, 2026 | 0 Comments

One More for the Road claimed line honours in the Round the Island Seagull Race, finishing ahead of Team Bermuda by seconds in the Sport Cruisin’ class.

A total of 59 boats registered for the race, including three on race day.

Four boats did not start, while three were disqualified after using non-Seagull engines.

Fifty-five boats started the race, with 36 finishing, 14 failing to finish and one recorded as DNC after cutting through Castle Harbour due to time constraints.

Two records were broken during the race.

One More for the Road set a new Sport Cruisin’ [G2] record of 2hr 55min, breaking the previous record of 3hr 9min. Stephen Seagull set a new Class H Small Engine record of 8hr 41min, breaking the previous record of nine hours.

In Sport Racing, Boat No 20, skippered by Leon Simmons, finished one second ahead of POPS, skippered by Jared Souza.

Longwood, Jungle Bridge and TBD finished in that order, seconds apart, with Bust N Knots less than one minute behind.

In Class E-1B, De Rum Barrell, skippered by Carlos Falcoa, finished ahead of Shrimp n Grits, skippered by Kate Cabral.

The two foiling boats, Xpair a Mental and One Foot Skankin’, both completed the course.

The race was moved to June 27 after strong winds in mid-June.

Competitors encountered choppy conditions on the South Shore, large clumps of seaweed and hot conditions due to light southerly winds.

Jonny Chapman and Sammy Dill, racing Flat Bottomed Gulls, received a prize for being the most persistent after repeatedly restarting their engine before eventually retiring from the race.
