Masterworks Appoints Fiona Murdoch As Director
The Masterworks Museum of Bermuda Art has appointed Fiona Murdoch as its new Executive Director, effective July 6.
A spokesperson said, “The Board of Directors of the Masterworks Museum of Bermuda Art is delighted to announce the appointment of Fiona Murdoch as the Museum’s new Executive Director. Murdoch will officially assume the role on Monday, July 6, 2026, marking the beginning of an exciting new chapter for Masterworks.
“A Bermudian with more than 25 years of leadership experience across arts education, nonprofit management, and community-based organisations, Murdoch brings a wealth of expertise and a lifelong passion for the arts. She holds a Bachelor of Arts [Honours] in Fine Art from the University of Guelph and a Postgraduate Certificate in Secondary Art Education from the University of Oxford.
“Her connection to the arts is both longstanding and deeply personal. Murdoch spent more than two decades as Head of Art at Saltus Grammar School, where she led one of Bermuda’s premier creative programmes and oversaw the development of a dedicated gallery space. She has remained actively engaged in the local arts community through her involvement with the Bermuda Society of Arts and Kaleidoscope Arts Foundation, and currently serves as a docent at the Hamilton Princess Hotel, where she leads tours of its internationally renowned art collection for local and visiting audiences. She has also served on the Bermuda Centennial Foundation’s Public Education Committee for the last six years. As a young artist, Murdoch spent time interning at Masterworks, making her return to the organisation in this new role especially meaningful.
“To celebrate both Masterworks’ 39th birthday and the beginning of this new chapter under Murdoch’s leadership, the Museum will host A Toast to Masterworks and Fiona Murdoch on Thursday, July 16, 2026, at Masterworks. This special evening will bring together members and supporters to connect with Fiona Murdoch and Masterworks’ founder Tom Butterfield, and celebrate the Museum’s enduring legacy while looking ahead to an exciting future. The event will be held for members or by invitation only. To become a Masterworks member, please visit masterworksbermuda.org.
“The Board and staff warmly welcome Fiona Murdoch to the Masterworks community and look forward to the continued growth and impact of the Museum under her leadership.”
