In news that the fans of the blue and blue will surely hope bodes well for the upcoming match, St George’s Cricket Club defeated Somerset Cricket Club to win the 2026 Colts Cup Match.
After winning the toss, St George’s elected to field. Somerset made a strong start as Callum MacFarlane and Patrick Dill put on 97 for the opening wicket. However, after the first wicket fell, the innings collapsed, with Somerset losing their remaining 10 wickets for 42 runs to be bowled out for 139.
Keegan Jones led the attack with figures of 8 for 38 from 12.4 overs, including two maidens.
Chasing 140, St George’s recovered from early wickets through a 98-run third-wicket partnership between Logan Jones and Shane Robinson.
Logan Jones scored 79 from 97 balls with 10 fours, while Robinson added 50 from 60 deliveries, hitting seven fours and two sixes.
Callum McIntosh took 2 for 47 from seven overs for Somerset, but St George’s reached 140 for 4 to secure victory by six wickets.
Keegan Jones’ eight-wicket haul and Logan Jones’ innings of 79 were central to St George’s victory over their Cup Match rivals.
