Sailing: Miguel Power In 16th Place
Bermudian sailor Miguel Power made a strong start to the ILCA UK Open and National Championships, finishing the opening day in 16th place overall at the Weymouth and Portland National Sailing Academy.
Competing in the 111-boat ILCA 6 fleet, Power delivered two top-ten finishes during the opening day’s qualifying races.
The 17-year-old placed seventh in his flight in the first race before finishing ninth in the second, giving him 16 points from the two races.
Power, representing the Royal Hamilton Amateur Dinghy Club, was 16th in the provisional overall standings heading into the second day of racing.
The championships continue through July 28 at the academy, which hosted the sailing competition at the London 2012 Olympic Game
