Bermuda Sailors Set For World Championships
Bermuda’s sailors completed their practice session in Stockholm, Sweden this week ahead of the World Sailing Open Team Racing World Championship.
According to the event website, the Bermuda team consists of Millie Lewis, Ceci Wollman, Sammy Dill, Josh Greenslade, Alan Frith, Seb Round, Emily Davis and Aiden Young.
Competition begins on Thursday and continues through Sunday, with 12 teams representing 11 nations: Australia, the Bahamas, Bermuda, Denmark, Finland, Ireland, Japan, New Zealand, Sweden, Britain and the United States, which has two entries.
“This will be a world championship of the highest calibre, both competitively and in terms of public appeal,” said Magnus Myrenberg, Project Manager for the 2026 Team Racing World Championship.
The organisers said, “Team Racing is one of the most gender-equal disciplines in sailing. Each national eight person team must consist of at least three women and three men. The championship will be sailed in identical J/80 boats and feature more than 140 intense matches in a highly spectator-friendly format.”
