BILTIR Hosts Charity Pickleball Tournament

Bermuda International Long Term Insurers and Reinsurers [BILTIR] recently hosted its inaugural Charity Pickleball Tournament, with division winners selecting the Bermuda Mental Health Foundation and the Carter Center Charity to receive donations.

A spokesperson said, “Bermuda International Long Term Insurers and Reinsurers [BILTIR] recently hosted its inaugural Charity Pickleball Tournament, bringing together interns and industry professionals for an afternoon of friendly competition, networking, and giving back at the WER Joell Tennis Stadium.

“Designed to encourage connections outside the workplace, the tournament welcomed 19 teams from BILTIR member companies across competitive and friendly divisions, with about 80 participants in total. The event provided interns with an opportunity to connect with members from across Bermuda’s [re]insurance industry in a relaxed setting, while supporting charitable causes.”

“The inaugural Charity Pickleball Tournament is one example of BILTIR’s commitment to creating unique opportunities for interns to connect with peers in the long-term sector outside of the office,” said Suzanne Williams, CEO of BILTIR. “By combining networking, teamwork, and charity, participants strengthened their industry relationships while supporting worthy causes in and around our community.”

The spokesperson said, “The tournament crowned winners across both divisions:

  • Competitive Division
    • First Place: Marsh
    • Second Place: Athene
    • Third Place: EY
  • Friendly Division
    • First Place: Aspida Re
    • Second Place: Monument Re
    • Third Place: Wilton Re

“As part of the tournament’s charitable focus, each winning team directed a donation to a charity of its choice. Marsh selected the Bermuda Mental Health Foundation for its donation, an organisation that provides mental health resources and promotes the preservation of these services in Bermuda. Aspida Re chose to donate to the Carter Center Charity, which provides support and training for adults with learning and physical disabilities.

“BILTIR also engaged with several local businesses during the event. Goslings generously provided beverages for participants, while Trini Spice supplied lunch and Duch Pops served frozen treats throughout the afternoon.

“This inaugural tournament is the latest addition to BILTIR’s community and networking events, designed to strengthen connections between interns and professionals while reinforcing the organisation’s commitment to supporting local businesses in Bermuda.”
