Shiona Turini Joins Fashion Award Panel

Bermudian costume designer Shiona Turini has been named to the selection committee for the third edition of the Empowered Vision Award.

The annual initiative, organized by the Andréa W. and Kenneth C. Frazier Family Foundation and the Council of Fashion Designers of America [CFDA], recognizes and supports emerging Black designers who demonstrate creative vision and business acumen.

According to the CFDA announcement, one designer will receive a $100,000 grant, tailored mentorship, strategic business development support and national visibility.

Ms Turini joins a nine-member selection committee that also includes musician Travis Scott, supermodel Anok Yai, designer Willy Chavarria and Pulitzer Prize-winning fashion critic Robin Givhan.

Applications are scheduled to open on September 1, with the recipient set to be announced at an awards ceremony in New York City on December 10, 2026.

Ms Turini has worked with numerous major international celebrities and publications and won an Emmy in 2025 for Outstanding Costumes for Variety, Nonfiction or Reality Programming for her work on Beyoncé Bowl.
