The Allan Warner Memorial Road March will be open to the public, with further details to be announced in the coming weeks.

Mr Warner’s involvement with the Gombeys spanned over 50 years, and alongside performing, Mr Warner mentored others, helping to pass the tradition on to younger generations.

In 1995, he became the first Gombey captain to receive the Queen’s Certificate of Honour, and the Department of Community and Cultural Affairs also recognised his contribution at the 2015 Gombey Festival.

Following his passing in October 2016, the then Minister of Social Development and Sports paid tribute to Mr Warner, saying that he was a “standard bearer of preserving traditional Gombey Culture” and his “spirit, impact and legacy will live on in our hearts and minds.”
