SWD Adrian Roach On Upcoming Fight In US
Unbeaten boxer Adrian Roach faces Pedro Ibarra Jr in a four-round welterweight contest at the Lone Star Convention and Expo Centre in Conroe, Texas, on November 7.
Roach, 24, is coming off a first-round stoppage victory over Brandon Mendez in Greensboro, North Carolina, in August. He has won all three of his professional bouts.
Ibarra, 29, who was born in California, has lost both of his professional fights, including a stoppage defeat by Javin Norris in Houston, Texas, in March.
Roach says he is confident in the work being done by his team ahead of the contest.
“I trust everything my team has been doing with me, and I feel confident going into next week,” Roach told Bernews.
“I’ve been training with my coach Leo [Richardson] at Controversy Gym [in Hamilton] and doing some technical sessions at Fresh & Hungry Boxing Club [in Warwick].
“I’ve also been doing some strength and conditioning work with Cervio Cox [Made Movement] at TN Tatum.”
The Bermudian is targeting another impressive performance but insists he will not go looking for a knockout.
“I’m looking to build momentum and deliver another statement performance,” he said.
“I want to be smart, though, and not go looking for a knockout.
“However, if it presents itself, it’s always the goal to please the fans.”
Roach expects Ibarra to come forward and apply pressure but believes he knows how to deal with the challenge.
“We know he’s a come forward fighter, a rangy fighter, and will come to fight,” he said. “We know how to pick him apart, though.”
Roach has already gained professional experience in the United States, Bermuda and Mexico, and hopes to fight at home again next year.
“I’m looking forward to fighting again in Bermuda in the top half of next year,” he added.
