Rodrigues & Vieira Help Eckerd Finish Third
Bermudian sailors PJ Rodrigues and Jordan Vieira helped Eckerd College finish third among 16 teams at the SAISA Fall Open Fleet Race Championship in Charleston, South Carolina, on Sunday [November 1].
Vieira and crew Avery Guck opened the regatta with four consecutive second-place finishes in Division B. They ended Saturday third in the division with 30 points. William Alvarado joined Vieira as crew for Sunday’s six races, and the pair won the final race to secure second in the division with 49 points.
In Division A, Rodrigues and crew Peyton Seidle placed third in Saturday’s sixth race. Their best results came on Sunday, when they finished second in back-to-back races. They took fourth in the division with 72 points.
Eckerd finished with 121 points, six behind the second-placed University of South Florida. The host College of Charleston won the championship with 63 points.
