Bermuda Wins Caribbean U19 Rugby Cup

Hot on the heels of Bermuda winning the Caribbean Squash Championship, news comes from the Bahamas that the Bermuda U19 National Rugby Squad defeated Trinidad & Tobago in the finals to claim Bermudas first ever Caribbean U19 Championship Title.

Bermuda were behind at halftime, as the two teams went into the break with Trinidad and Tobago leading 10 – 3. With 14 minutes remaining in the game Trinidad and Tobago held a 15 – 3 lead, however Aldo Campbell scored a try and a David Lunn penalty saw Bermuda pull within four making the score 15 – 11. With 2 minutes remaining in the game Patrick Richardson scored a try in the corner and David Lunn added the conversion to make the score 18 – 15 in favor of Bermuda. The Caribbean U19 Cup was presented to Bermudas Captain Somers Brewin, while the Man of the Match Award for Bermuda was given to Aldo Campbell.

The Bermuda team had already defeated the host nation Bahamas 12-10 in their opening match, and defeated the reigning Caribbean champions Cayman 22 – 0 on August 18th to go through to the finals.
