CADA Offers Additional TIPS Training

CADA yesterday [July 10] announced that due to high demand, three TIPS training classes will be held in July and August. TIPS stands for Training Intervention ProcedureS and provides methodologies to ensure the responsible sale, service and consumption of alcohol in Bermuda.

According to CADA Chairman, Mr. Anthony Santucci, “On June 1st 2011, Section 39B of the Liquor License Act came into effect. The law mandates that all licensed establishment must have every manager, supervisor or person in charge of a bar, where alcohol is provided or sold for consumption on the premises, TIPS certified.”

Mr. Santucci added, “We held TIPS training classes prior to June 1, however since then we have heard from numerous establishments requesting training for their staff. We are happy to comply with these requests and have added three additional sessions.

The dates and times are:

• Tuesday July 26, 2011 9:00am – 3:30pm
• Tuesday July 26, 2011 5:30pm – 11:15pm
• Tuesday Aug 30, 2011 9:00am – 3:30pm

Mr. Santucci concluded, “The next TIPS training after August, will be in November. To register, people should go to cada.bm. I would also like to thank our community partner, The Leopards Club, for their on-going support for hosting the training on their premises.”
