2012 College Weeks Reunion

November 24, 2011

This spring, the Bermuda Department of Tourism [BDOT] is encouraging baby boomers to take a stroll down memory lane with three full days of celebratory events, dining and a range of activities – all designed to capture the youthful spirit and excitement of the island’s College Weeks from the 1960s, 1970s and 1980s.

Bermuda’s College Week Reunion will kick off Thursday, March 15, 2012 and conclude Sunday, March 18, 2012 with dedicated hotel packages starting at just $598 per person.

These packages will also include three-day event passes, which provide access to each of the planned commemorative events as well as transportation to and from visitors’ hotels.

Today, the Minister of Business Development and Tourism Wayne Furbert, who touched on the College Week Reunion initiative at today’s third quarter visitor statistics briefing added, “The College Week Reunion will be a great way for folks who may have visited Bermuda during the heyday of their youth to come back and enjoy the Island as an adult.

“We felt it was about time that adults get to experience their own grown-up Spring Break in a setting that fits their desires for a relaxing, sophisticated experience.”

On March 15, 2012, the festivities will begin at sunset with poolside cocktails followed by a dinner party at Beau Rivage. The party will then move to Leau Bar at Newstead Belmont Hills Golf Resort and Spa from 10.00 p.m. to midnight.

Starting at noon on March 16, 2012, visitors are invited to enjoy a nostalgic Booze Cruise and lunch aboard the MV Lady Tamara. Following an afternoon at leisure, the day will conclude with an after party at The Cellar at Fairmont Southampton.

On March 17, 2012, the Reunion will come to a close and guests will once again have a chance to reminisce with old friends and new at a BBQ dinner and party at the Fairmont Southampton Beach Club.
