    Fantastic news.
Great work BPS and those that gave info.

    • reality check says:

yes i agree! good job! i didnt even know they found out who ‘may have’ done it

      • Yup says:

Make an example of that idiot!!!! They think they are soooo great with their guns. Put them in an orange smock and make’m pick up trash…preferably where high school kids can see them. They will cry like the pathetic babies they are.

  2. Concerned says:

Didn’t think BPS would be able to get this guy… Good work!

    • cygnet says:

He thought he was untouchable or could do what he likes to anybody and get away with it. Oh well. Good job BPS and community.

  3. all clogged up says:

Instead of free bus rides, and child care, I wish that the Government chose to expand Westgate to warehouse these unrecoverable individuals…..for 30+ years.

    • Come correct says:

      Make them build it.

    • your joking says:

how about instead we have the death penalty for pulling a trigger in Bermuda….I among many would gladly push the button and would stand behind any Government when they tell Britain to piss off and mind their own business.

      • Family Man says:

But then who would be left to stand for the Pee el Pee in Pembroke?

    • Tommy Chong says:

Why should help given to struggling parents & seniors be taken away because of magistrate’s inconsistent sentencing? We have more people in westgate for unpaid traffic fines & drug possession charges than violent criminals. Someone who goes up for possession more than once could land themselves years in prison while someone who has been caught red handed on video smashing bottles over a persons head only has to wear a tracking bracelet & a curfew that allows them to stay out all hours of the night. Which is worse a repeat in violent crime or a repeat in drug possession? We need new judges who give out better sentences or laws that force our old judges to do so. If we had all of those charged of minor crimes sentenced to house arrest or community service then we would have more room for violent criminals in prison.

      • Maddog says:

Tommy count they don’t lock you up for unpaid traffic fines anymore unless you are black. Go figure.

        • Tommy Chong says:

This is how it works now. If you rack up a bill of traffic fines regardless of your race the judge gives you a choice pay your fines or go to prison. The majority of people in Bermuda are African decent so its elementary that the majority close or below the poverty line here are also African decent. This means that the ones in the majority will not have enough money to pay there fines & opt for prison time but there are still some non African descended people who can’t pay & opt for prison also. Not as many but still some & as unequal & bias as this is there is no one to blame but those with power to make the laws. Our current government’s party was formed years ago on the soul basis of conquering this inequality. For almost 14 years this party has been given the power & chance to fix these problems that they set out to fix in 1963 so why haven’t they?

        • Rick Rock says:

Maddog, there is a simple solution. Try paying the fine. Or better still, try driving without breaking the law. Hardly anyone’s fault except the individual is it. No sympathy from me.

Anyway, you’re wrong. Two weeks ago a drunk idiot drove his vehicle into 3 parked cars, writing them off. Sent 3 people to hospital. Got an $800 fine, a month to pay it, and the judge expressed sympathy for the fact he’s written off his $100,000 car. He was black. So spare us the sob story about how black people are treated badly. It freaking nonsense.

      • Judgement says:

They(Judges) dont have a clue when it comes to consistent sentencing and/or getting the correct ruling on cases even if the truth is staring right at them maybe its by design it surely wouldn’t surprise me at all.All brains and degrees but not the smallest bit of common sense

  4. markus says:

people always complain about the BPS ticketing people and can’t catch a criminal. I for one an impressed with the reaction they have given with the spike in crime and can only hope that individuals in the community will do their part and report illegal activities to give the police more to make a case with against criminals

    • Truth says:

But wait….”spike in crime?” No, no Markus, you must have missed the memo: Crime is at it’s lowest in years.” (Yea, right.)

And YES, let’s make the families pay for their “good boys’” care at Westgate. I’m sick of footing the bill for these menaces to society. I mean seriously, if you think about it, why ARE WE paying for these criminals’ keep?

      • Poppa Bermy says:

And what crime did the rest of these criminals families do to deserve to be punished too??? they pay thier taxes just like you do and this funds the prisons so technically they’re already paying… and suppose they didnt pay… and what would happen to the prisoner if they dont pay or he has no immediate family…just a thought

  5. Prisoners says:

I think Bermuda should take the resposibility off the public to pay for these prisoners and let their familes supply all that they need, clothing, food, etc. Let them realy feel hard times.

    • cygnet says:

@ Prisoners. I agree with you 1000%. I Have been saying let loved ones and family pay for them for years now. Bermuda needs to rally around this idea and present to Government.

    • Oh for goodness sake, put the orange smocks on intake workers and family services who do nothing to help when reports go in at early stages in life, if thats the case. These youth have endured what they’ve now mastered.
      A. Teach a child the alphabet – they learn to spell words and they share by communicating
      B. Leave a child in a lowlife environment – they learn and share and teach and act from what they know
Use common sense Family Services, Teachers and Share your info with the Police. It may be helpful to know that the above (B) and a child who may have been expelled proves trouble later on.
How come the troubled youth know how to network & graduate to this crazy mess they have this island in
Come on Family Service & Former teachers of the youth in this age bracket – Team up!!!
Great work Mr. Perinchief, I have always admired your skills

  6. TRUE DAT says:

One thing You shoot John Swans buliding You are getting caught Immediately!!!!

  7. Rory says:

I wonder what Craig Attridge has to say about this?

  8. Honestly says:

WELL DONE TO THE BERMUDA POLICE SERVICE! I AM SO PROUD OF YOU FOR MAKING OUR BERMUDA SAFER. You would think others will learn from this? Not at all! The other fools need to take note and pay attention…YOU WILL GET CAUGHT AND I HAVE EVERY CONFIDENCE THE POLICE WILL CONTINUE TO DO GREAT WORK!

    • Tommy Chong says:

Of course they don’t learn especially when BPS does a good job of arresting them just so the judge can give them only 18 months in prison for being a “habitual bully”

  9. Allen G says:

People, the BPS doesn’t make Bermuda safer, WE DO!!! Arrests and trials dont prevent the ignorance from happening. Family ties, positive adult role modes, cultural pride, higher education, they make Bermuda safer. These men and women who are acting out violently don’t have these core things and are simply keeping the police busy with their need for attention and validation.

    • Tommy Chong says:

Just a minute let me break out my mini violin. Maybe I can get a whole orchestra going if I invite all the people I know who have hard lives but haven’t resorted to violence to play along.

      • tricks are for kids says:

I’ll join your orchestra..Me with my growing up in a home without my father, my mom dyng at a young age, and no family willing to care for my brothers and sisters and I, having had to pay for my own schooling, 4.0 GPA self……Can I play the Cello?

        • ok says:

@tricks are for kids…that’s amazing what you’ve accomplished w/out the help of your family.

          • Tommy Chong says:

I second the well done for tricks are for kids accomplishments. There are many in Bermuda who have not had such a rosy life that have persevered including myself. Out of all crimes committed I feel violent ones have zero excuses for. All of these violent offenders are plain & simply bullies who have learned from young that they can get their way by hurting another human. As sick as it is their are parents who encourage this behavior & are proud of their children for their bullying. I can’t consider myself a saint & testify that I’ve never been in a fight but I’ve never bullied anyone. A poster who seems to only leave thuggish gangster wannabe comments here because they don’t have brains enough to leave something intelligent to debate once typed that I must of been a nerdball who got my head flushed in the toilet when young. I was quite the opposite of this & would actually beat the snot out of those who flushed kids heads in the toilet. I kinda thought of myself as a hero even though my teachers & principal didn’t & I got into many detentions & suspensions for fighting bullies. When I grew into my late teens I realized this was because two wrongs don’t make a right. Even today in my adult life I find it hard for me to back down & even harder for me to see the attraction that some humans feel to bullies. It turns my stomach to hear the rumors about young teen girls cheering the machete attackers on at rangers.

A few months ago my family was in town when we witnessed a female being slapped around by her guy & I went into a rage because my children were there terrified seeing this. When I approached the guy & loudly demanded him to stopped or not only did he threaten me but his girl did also & told me to mind my business while her face swelled from the hard backhands he had dealt to her. This commotion brought the police around so the girl tried to push her guy into a store saying, “I don’t want you to get arrested again.” AGAIN?!?!?! The police did get the guy & put him in cuffs for making a disturbance while the girl pleaded with them to let him go. People in our community need to know that they must not stick up for these violent individuals & they must stop making excuses for them because there is no excuse. Another thing is that the people around during what I detailed above who just walked on by & pretended it wasn’t happening & those who just stood & watched & did nothing are helping violence flourish on this island. Maybe I looked like a fool to those who saw that this girl was too dumb to deserve help but to my kids I looked like a hero upholding what is right. Our children learn from our actions & if we just stand by & allow people to be bullies or even worse allow our children to be bullies we are accomplices to the violence in our community. There is no excuse for bullies no matter what they’ve been through.

            • tricks are for kids says:

@ Tommy…Thanks for the compliment!! I actually work as a Behavioral Therapist and the stories that I could tell you!!! Many of the names that I see on Bernews are students that I have had in the past and I can honestly say that when I see their names I am not surprised!!!!! At the end of the day its all about CHOICES and they are CHOOSING to do the wrong thing!! You tell them go right..they CHOOSE to go left…..Life is what you make it and YOU are in charge of your own destiny!!!

      • terry says:

        ?

    • Honestly says:

Citizens assisting the BPS is in fact how these criminals are caught! BPS have been better than ever in arresting these criminals. It is up to the prosecution dept to do their homework n do it well in preparation for the court case!

Now that you have him, you need to KEEP him….find SOMETHING to hold him and use the extended days that you are now allowed to hold someone….
