Man Charged With Sexual Assault, Stalking

A 32-year-old man was this morning [Apr.19] granted $15,000 bail following charges of sexually assaulting and stalking a woman.

The offences were alleged to have occurred between December 1st 2011 and April 14th 2012. The offences involved allegations of electronic approaches via texting and phone messages as well as an actual physical assault.

Senior Magistrate Archie Warner ruled in favour of defence lawyer Victoria Pearman’s submission that the defendant, who cannot be named, should be granted bail, although with conditions.

The Senior Magistrate ruled that the defendant must wear an ankle bracelet and is restricted to his stated residence for twenty-four hours in each day, every day.

Further, that he must not interfere, in any way, with the alleged victim or any witnesses. Bail was granted for $15,000 with one like Surety.

The man must return to Court on August 13th 2012 to face trial.

    This law makes me laugh can’t be named why he can do the crime so why not name him. Then you give
    him bail come on do you really think the braclet will stop him. I hope the parents get ahold of him and tear

    His family prob doesnt even want him in the house, so now he is probably going to be a burden to his mother, now they have put up with him 24/7 id hate to live in that house. better off in jail.unless he lives alone but at 32 he prob lives at home

    So sexual assault AND stalking-”allegedly” and he’s released on bail and he doesn’t have to re-appear until AUGUST? Wow! I’m sure the victim(s) feels real safe hearing that.

    This judge needs to step down. This is the same guy who as the Director of Public Prosecution during the Rebecca Middleton case back in 96′ was responsible for the two rapists and murderers getting off the hook.
