New Thrift Store To Launch In St George’s

June 8, 2012

CellOne has partnered with the Centre Against Abuse to open a boutique thrift store in St. George’s. The store, aptly named Dress for Success, aims to assist men and women with obtaining affordable professional business attire in order to help gain entry into the work force or to update existing wardrobes.

The boutique is an extension of the programs already in place through the Centre Against Abuse. The charity has been providing support for victims of domestic abuse through counselling, 24 hour hotline and safe accommodation to both men and women since 1979.

“We are excited to be partnering with the Centre Against Abuse to get such a worthwhile project off the ground.”, said Frank Amaral, Chief Operating Officer of CellOne.

“All of our employees are taking part in this project whether it’s renovating the store, gathering the clothes that will be sold, or organizing the opening.

“CellOne supports numerous charities and events throughout Bermuda, however one aspect that makes this particular project a lot of fun is that we’ve all had a chance to get out of the office, get our hands dirty and do something worthwhile for the community.”

Whether you are starting your first job, revamping your work wardrobe, looking to make your dollar stretch or want a wide selection of brand names not available on the island, Dress for Success has something to offer all adults.

“The Centre Against Abuse thanks CellOne for the opportunity that we have in partnering with them on opening our second hand boutique. This second hand store will allow individuals to “Dress for Success” no matter their financial status”, said Laurie Shiell of the Centre Against Abuse. “CellOne has allowed us to realize a dream that we have had for a number of years.”

A number of individuals and businesses in the community have been pulling together for some time now by donating clothing, services and materials including AS Coopers, Gibbons Company, BR & CT Trucking, Lindo’s Group of Companies, Mambo, Sousa’s Carpeting, The English Sports Shop, Signworx, Baptiste, Standard Hardware and Pembroke Paint.

CellOne will be hosting the grand opening for Dress For Success on Saturday, June 23rd at 12:00 PM at the store located on Old Military Road in St. Georges. If you are interested in donating new or gently used business attire to Dress for Success, please contact the Centre Against Abuse by email info@centreagainstabuse.bm or dial 292-4366.
