Police Appeal: Locate Maxwell Smith
The Bermuda Police Service said they are “appealing for information on the whereabouts of Maxwell Mustapha Smith born 14th April, 1972.”
“Police need to speak with Mr. Smith and efforts to contact him have been without success,” a police spokesperson said.
“If anyone has any information on where Mr. Smith can be located you are asked to contact the Somerset Police Station on 234-1010.”
I hope he is ok….

Man jailed following vicious attack on former girlfriend

A Pembroke man who tried to choke his former girlfriend and beat up a man who intervened to help her has been sent to jail for 18 months.
Maxwell Mustafa Smith, 34, of Hill Crescent pleaded admitted assaulting the woman on March 25 in Pembroke.
He also admitted a charge of grievous bodily harm to Ivan Craig Smith and wilfully damaging the woman’s car to a cost of more than $60.
Senior Crown Counsel Carrington Mahoney told the court that Maxwell Smith and his former girlfriend had already broken up when he saw her in a car with Ivan Smith in the Spanish Point area and chased them on his motorcycle.
He cut them off, the prosecutor said, and went berserk – throwing her property out of the car’s boot.
The woman got out of the car and Maxwell Smith began yelling and cursing at her, blocking her path and buckling the car door when she tried to get back in.
Ivan Smith tried calming Maxwell Smith only for the latter to punch him in the face, fracturing facial bones and splitting his lip.
Turning back to his target, Maxwell Smith grabbed her around the throat and began choking her, saying: “I’m going to choke you to death!”
He then pushed her backwards over a wall and onto a road below, causing scratches to her body.
When he took money from her purse, she ran into a nearby barbershop for refuge before escaping in the car when his attention was distracted.
In court Maxwell Smith told Senior Magistrate, the Wor. Khamisi Tokunbo: “I apologize. There’s no justification for what I did. It was out of character.”
“You can’t take your rage and anger out on a person like that,” Mr. Tokunbo said.
He sentenced Mr. Smith to 18 months in jail for the grievous bodily harm, 12 months for the bodily harm and three months for the damage, all to run at the same time.
@4EYES – there is more than one maxwell smith in the island. It’s obvious that you know him and hold ill feelings towards him. unless that story you just posted happened 6 years ago or there was a typo in the story. The MaxwellSmith pictured above is 40 and not 34
It did happen years ago. I believe the post was to show the character of Maxwell Mustapha Smith who was definitely the perpetrator in the above news report.
@IAMAWINNA – yes.. it did happen six years ago..highly unlikely that someone would have an identical middle name that is quite “unusual”, for a Bermudian, unless of course you are of Middle Eastern descent.
And no I do not know him, but it’s called freedom of speech..I do have my own opinion.
@4eyes–okay–come out come out wherever you are Maxwell, nice looking guy,…obviously has a temper like anyone of us may when it comes to love/emotions…does he have any priors to the above event.I don’t condone his behaviour but he admitted it was out of character because I’ve seen many sensible people lose all sense when itcomes to their relationships…

Exactly what I was thinking. Too many excuses, to many enablers. There is never a good excuse! We are all human with brains and common sense. Too often our judgement is clouded by alcohol and drugs and other things but all right thinking people know the difference between right and wrong and all have the ability to make choices. Am I better than he is …no, have I made similar mistakes in life, yes. Did I know what I was doing…yes!

@swinging …. Honestly if you know Max then you would agree to what we have said. Yes you should never judge a person on hear say, but this is from 3 people that ‘know’ him. This island is full of enablers, we need to stop enabling young and old and hold them all accountable for their actions.
