Business Bermuda Congratulates OBA

December 18, 2012

“The election results last night are clearly an indication that the people of Bermuda are laser-focused on the economy and that international business has to be the driving force in powering the return of prosperity and opportunity for all Bermudians,” said Cheryl Packwood, CEO of Business Bermuda.

“As we market Bermuda around the world, we constantly talk about the importance of stability in government and the peaceful transition of power and our Democracy in Bermuda are great examples of that. We thank the Progressive Labor Party for their efforts and we welcome the One Bermuda Alliance into government.

Ms Packwood continued: “Our challenges and opportunities are significant, but we are confident that the OBA has the depth of experience, understanding of the international business sector and the right leadership to transform Bermuda and ensure that our future is strong.

“Business Bermuda, formally the Bermuda International Business Association (BIBA), has worked closely with Bermuda’s government for over 40 years, and we look forward to working together to continue promoting Bermuda as a financial centre of excellence.”

Wonder how many local company jobs were saved the moment the OBA was declared the new Government last night?

How many fingers were over the 'escape' button in IB & were removed when the OBA was declared the new Government?

Bermuda may not have hit bottom yet but at least maybe the bottom is in sight & the hill out of the hole is in sight.

I agree. I personally know many people who were ready to leave if the PLP had won again. There's a lot of work to do, but hopefully the OBA will be responsible and not make petty decisions based on prejudice.
