A collision occurred at around 12.15pm this afternoon [Jan 21] in the Southampton area, just west of Church Bay, which resulted in the car going completely off the road, overturning, and landing on its roof. Both the Police and Fire Service responded to the scene, and unofficial reports indicate that no one was seriously injured in the incident.

Lots of non drivers on the island!
SUV? YUP!
um …. speechless. lol. i hope they was ok and further didn’t injure anyone else … this is a well i never…totally ridiculous.
There was another car that flipped yesterday @ the bottom of Scour Hill. I’m surprised there wasn’t a report on that.
Slow down people… at best you’re only going to save a minute or two whether your flying up the road or the speed limit… Its not worth it.
Sorry! We knew about that one, but no way could we have made it to Somerset in time to get the photo as our cameraman was in St George’s at the time…
And to think that car drivers believe that the root of all evil on Bermuda’s roads are the ‘bikers’
I don’t get it. Cars these days are dead easy to drive, power steering, power brakes, antilock brakes, automatic trannys, excellent tires & people CAN’T drive!!!!!
What would you people do if you had to go back to manual transmissions, cable brakes, non power steering, lousy rocking & rolling suspension?
For one thing you would be too busy actually operating the car than having time to operate the cellphone, sound system, eat, do whatever else you do besides pay attention to your driving.
Horrible road surfaces and one of the easiast driving tests in the world
Your missing out on one source of your equation… Oil on the roads mixed with water(rain)… I’ve decked out doing up Scaur Hill when I slid in a patch of oil under wet conditions. You could be on the straights or the curves, just hope no one is in front of you when you start sliding while your on the brakes. And at time you don’t even have to be on the brake but, your going to slide whichever way your heading… And they don’t make cars, bikes or whatever vehicle you maybe pushing for that kind of situation…
Again today (12:05), just west of Waterlot, a car struck a wall (east bound) and flipped onto tis side. What is going on?
Hmmm..who is the guilty car driver, the policeman or the firefighter?
I can’t tell since both of them have their faces blocked out!
i’ve noticed that TCD’s main concern is if you can “parallel park”…lol
then they’ll take you on a short drive through the city putting along like a snail making sure you can “stop” on a hill use your handbrake to continue onwards. I think a more tactical driving course should be introduced where as your response time or hand eye coordination is tested by certain objects suddenly appear in your path(jus as a kid might run into the road after a ball)I see some people who pass the test by the scum on their teeth then are turned over to the reality of driving. Theres so much more to be said on this matter but ….whats the sense.
@Micro….i agree with you…horrible road surfaces contribute big time to the seemingly erradic driver….i myself drive very close to the line in order to preserve my vehicle from enduring motocross like thoroughfares. Another thing that might piss some people off is that these trenches are not being returned back to how they were found…in my opinion some one is cutting corners…either time restrictions for the job to be profitable or just plain dont give a f#@k attitudes…Who ever filled the trenches on Parlaville Road should be made to redo it at thier expense..and the company called “Invisible Trenching ” needs to rethink thier name.
Was the driver asked for a breath sample? Alcohol sales are up!
Those cars should be punished for flipping over like that. They have no right being on de road without a driver.
Road surface!!! Oh puhleese, I’ll give you lousy trench refilling but anywhere else you can find the road surface just as smooth a here. We don’t have snow. We don’t have ice. We don’t have nasty deep potholes. We do have roads which have not been re engineered since the horse & cart days. Even the most modest of banking, making turns much safer especially for cyclists, does not exist.
How do you flip a car at 35 Kilometers Per Hour?
Dah ! was only going 20-25 mph – was testing for the Daytona 500 !
The headline made it sound as if the car landed on the “roof of a building” not on its own roof.
