BMDS 2014 Calendar Goes On Sale
The cast and backstage personnel of the upcoming Bermuda Musical & Dramatic Society [BMDS] production “Calendar Girls” have dropped everything — well, almost — in the name of a good cause.
The show’s actresses, director and producer have emulated the play’s plot and posed for a 2014 Bermuda calendar wearing nothing but their best smiles. Strategically placed props will prevent too much skin from being exposed.
“Calendar Girls” was inspired by a group of real middle-aged house wives in Yorkshire, England who famously stripped off to raise funds for cancer research in 1999.
Proceeds raised by the $15 calendars will be contributed to Bermuda Cancer and Health, Friends of Hospice and PALS with a small percentage of profits going to the BMDS charitable trust.
The Bermuda Musical & Dramatic Society production of the play runs from April 11-13 and 17-20 at the Earl Cameron Theatre, City Hall. Showtime is at 8 p.m.
Online bookings can be made at www.bmds.bm from now until April 20. Tickets can also be purchased at the Daylesford Theatre box office [Tel: 292-0848] at the corner of Washington and Dundonald Streets from 5:30-6:30pm, on April 3-5 and 8-10. They will also be available at the Earl Cameron Theatre from 7-8pm on performance nights.
The calendar will be available at the performances at City Hall during the show’s run, the Bermuda Bookstore, Bermuda Cancer and Health and online [includes shipping for BMDS overseas members] at www.express.bm
