April 18, 2013

The Bermuda registered cruise ship Crown Princess arrived at the east end earlier tonight [Apr 18] to disembark a sick passenger.

The ship was en route from Port Everglades, Florida to Ponta Delgada, Azores when ship personnel contacted the Bermuda Maritime Operations Centre earlier today, a spokesperson said.

The pilot boat St David met the cruise ship near St David’s and disembarked an ill passenger believed to be an American female in her 70′s.

Medical staff from the cruise line traveled with the passenger to Ordnance Island where an awaiting ambulance transported the female to King Edward Memorial Hospital for treatment. The pilot boat returned the medical staff to the ship and the Crown Princess resumed its journey to the Azores at approximately 8.30pm.
