Sunday July 26th: “Good News” Spotlight
News that ten students received education awards from the Bermuda Public Services Union, LaLique Simmons launched her ‘30 For 30’ initiative, and Bermudian chef Trevor Johnstone served as the featured guest chef at The Atlantic Table in Louisiana were among the positive news stories from the past week.
In other good news, Raelyn Robinson won four medals at the AAU National Championship Jackie Joyner-Kersee Showcase, and Kelise Wade captured the women’s title at the Philadelphia Super Sprint Triathlon in Pennsylvania.
Other positive news stories included the Government awarding $175,000 in Elite Athlete Sponsorship funding to 43 athletes across 15 sports, Channa McGowan, Unzae Swan and Naziah Robinson receiving Bermuda Nurses Association scholarships, and BELCO’s summer internship programme providing hands-on experience for 17 students.
