Former Sen. Vince Ingham Resigns From PLP

April 9, 2013

Vincent Ingham Ascendant Bermuda Feb 21st 2011-1-3Former Senator and Parliamentary candidate Vince Ingham has resigned from the Progressive Labour Party.

“The PLP can confirm that Mr. Ingham has resigned from the Party,” a PLP spokesperson said.

“We thank him for his service to the country as a Senator and for representing the Progressive Labour Party as a candidate in the 2012 election.”

Mr Ingham is a former President and CEO of Ascendant Group Limited, the parent company of companies including BELCO, Bermuda Gas and PureNERGY. He retired from that position after he was appointed to the Senate in November 2011 by the then-ruling PLP.

In the 2012 General Election Mr Ingham ran in C#19 Pembroke West, where he was defeated in the four-way race by the One Bermuda Alliance’s Jeanne Atherden. He was not re-appointed to the Senate when the three Opposition Senators were named in December 2012.

No more money in the cookie jar, time to move on.

    • Black Soil says:

Dunno why he joined PLP in the first place. He was once an adopted candidate for the UBP. I can only guess that he saw the PLP as the only game in town. Fak brother…you are looking unstable. Where is the loyalty for any party? Jus stay out of politics bro.

      • swing voter says:

hahaha Bro? man Vincy has always played on both sides of the fence when it was convenient. Pure opportunist. I’m not hating, just a fact of life, if you can get away with it.

  2. Truth is killin' me... says:

Oh gaaaawd…this man better not walk across the floor??????????? Don’t trust him as far as I could throw him.

    • O.B. says:

The OBA wouldn’t take him after his remarks about businesses prior to the election. The OBA is trying to encourage more business as a step forward, not trying to take a step back.

    • Raymond Ray says:

      For real…

    • longtail says:

      @Truth is killin’ me…
He does not have a floor to walk across.

  3. Thank you for your service to Bermuda Mr. Ingham. Hope you consider joining Bermuda Business Development Group as Bermuda could use your experience, energy and intellect in an area like this.

  4. Sandgrownan says:

Huh..didn’t quite work out eh Vince…?

  5. Common Sense says:

I can understand Vince not wanting to be directly involved in politics any more, but surely he doesn’t have to resign from the PLP to do that. It makes him seem rather shallow, as though he only joined to seek political office, and now that is not available he cuts and runs. Very disappointing.

    • Sandgrownan says:

And predictable. His pre-election comments re business were, however, pretty stupid.

  6. We Dont Care What You Think says:

flip lop for that monet mate, your former bredrens insisted on full confessional and changenof faith to take you back home

dont blame u better than pretending — can run a party

  7. navin johnson says:

    what service to Bermuda?

    • Zombie Apocalypse says:

He served 8 weeks or so as a Senator. That’s 8 solid weeks of sterling service to his country. Maybe we’ll name a day off after him.

  8. Elizabeth Von Trumparani says:

Leaving a sinking ship yes. Taking nothing of any value since all his credibility is gone.

    • dthtoo/ says:

EVT you are nothing but a deplorable racist to the core! Go and find another place to live.

      • dthtoo/ says:

By the way EVT stands for Elizabeth Von Trumparani. She spits an awful lot of poisonous venom on Blacks and the PLP

        • Zombie Apocalypse says:

Are you still being pulled by strange invisible forces?

      • Kim Smith says:

Your comment seems a little excessive.

  9. Xman says:

He probleby was never PLP anyway – he was just using them for what he can get !
now that there’s no money left – he’s out!
    I Don’t trust him.

  10. The Ombudsman makes a statement and says:

????Vince just came into politics and he had a good run he got involved and now he is leaving…whats the big deal congrats to him..and if he joins the OBA well then congrats again..some of you people are so stupid..how are we to have a better Bermuda when all we have is political bigots..and its a shame to see a lot of that coming from OBA supporters

    • Jonathan says:

It’s not the OBA’s fault every family in Bermuda has a few a$$holes in it. Many people come on here and make comments and hide behind pen pal names like cowards. If one has to come on here and bash another Bernews should have to comment options.

Bernews why don’t you have 2 submit comment bottons as options? One that reads “submit comment under real name” or “I’m a coward and I decline to submit my real name” Then the option can be capture in bold above the blog when it comes up for all to read.

      • The Ombudsman makes a statement and says:

Jonathan kindly submit your full name and address, and place of work and phone number and that is not your real face either, you have kids..what is their names as well…im not understanding ..what is the point of having your real name on a posting site??when all you are doing is reading and responding to the post…unless of course you want to try to meet a person face to face and have a good ol fist fight with most likely an elderly person…..
knowing a persons name doesnt really do anything for all we know your name could be Annie and your saying your name is Jonathan..

        • Water "I'm a coward not my real name" says:

Ok I’ll be the first! SHut ya trAp punk, they made their point and it’s so dam true and funny!

      • Richard Martin (False name that looks real) says:

err… yeah.. cause “Jonathon” really show’s guts at revealing who you are?

The newspapers can’t prove who you are, so whats the point in forcing this issue?

        • Water "I'm a coward not my real name" says:

Ok I’ll be the first! SHut ya trAp punk, they made their point and it’s so dam true and funny!

      • Zombie Apocalypse says:

“Jonathon” is your full and proper name then is it? Are you like “Madonna” or “Prince”, one of those people with just one name? Or are you just a hypocritical wanker?

        • Water "I'm a coward not my real name" says:

Ok I’ll be the first! SHut ya trAp punk, they made their point and it’s so dam true and funny! Zombie you the biggest coward on this blog site. Now go get the coward award.

          • Zombie Apocalypse says:

Another hypocrite. Typical PLP…do as I say, not as I do. By the way, you posted the same things three times, moron.

            • Water "I'm a coward not my real name" says:

I wanted to post it 3 times coward, ever heard of copy & paste. By the way I voted OBA and in another 8 years I’ll vote for someone else if they don’t perform as promised. So SHut ya trAp punk.

              • Zombie Apocalypse says:

                In another 8 years huh?

You’re not too bright are you.

      • Say no says:

yOU HAVE A LOT OF NERVE. You are only using 1 name. So who is the coward here?

  11. Y-Gurl says:

All his credibility was gone after his “retirement” from BELCO please dont cross the floor!!

    • swing voter says:

hummmmmmm yah ;-) I mean, Y-gurl???? Y u got to go der? hahahahahah

  12. yup says:

Bound to happen. Who’s next? Jonathon Smith?

    • sonoso says:

      i bet zane before jonathon

      • dthtoo/ says:

I have never trusted white folks and Portuguese in the PLP: People like Kath Bell, Cheryl Pooley, Zane DeSilva, Jonathan Smith, etc. The enemy never sleeps.

My Black teachers have always advocated: “Never invite the white man into your home”.

    • Y-Gurl says:

I REALLY hope he stays where he is!!!

  13. swing voter says:

Vince you should have sat out the last election. Too bad you followed the crowd (Santucci, Furbert, et al) instead of your instincts. At least you aren’t as stupid as them to burn the bridge.

  14. I'm just saying...... says:

Mr Ingham is a good Man may Good Bless Him.

  15. Bermyman says:

Thank you for not addressing Bermuda’s energy issues and allowing the Monopoly BELCO to now be the most expensive energy provider most likely on the planet. These incredibly high energy rates increase the cost of living for all year on year and decrease the profitability of Bermuda business ventures. Maybe one of the most unattractive components of the business costs associated with setting up in Bermuda or even operating a hotel for that matter is the extremely high price for electricity.
