  1. I'm just sayin... says:

Let me thank Digicel for letting customers know that there is an outage, ’cause if it were just Bermuda Cablevision there would be no notification of any kind. Unfortunatley, as a Bermuda Cablevision customer I’m all too familiar with the outages that affect us all too often.

Wonder if there is any recourse when paying for a 24/7 service and not getting it? Maybe a discount for downtime?

If it had been Northrock, you would have never known.

After falling for the “higher bandwidth” scam I signed up for 8Mb & I can tell you that while there are times of the day that I do receive close to what I am paying for. For the most part of the day my internet creeps along at a snails pace (do various internet speed tests using different utilities & I see the internet testing at speeds well under 1mb). Have upgraded the modem & a clean dedicated cable line installed just for the internet & yet still the bog down. This shows that Cablevision is selling a service it can’t guarantee they will be able to provide due to the architecture of cable bandwidth & how it is shared. With the size of Bermuda, Cablevision should be able to provide enough bandwidth out of a cable trunk to service the whole island without significant drop out.

    • Simonsays says:

I thought i was alone with those SAME problems as I too changed lines, numerous calls to providers, I was even considering a 15 Mb because my 8Mb runs just like Time Shall Tell explained it! I pay for something I dont get every month when nothing is being done, so much for rights of a consumer!

    • BCVTech says:

My sincere apologies for your less than expected level of service. We have designed our network to allow the best possible connections at all times. I would like a chance to bring Bermuda Cablevision back into your favor. Please feel free to contact us via networksupport@cablevision.bm.

Thanks for the offer but I have already tried a couple times having this issue addressed by your “techs”. I was told by one of them “that’s just the way it is, no one can guarantee full speed all the time”. That would be fine if I was only loosing a little bandwidth but to be paying the amount that I am paying I shouldn’t have to wait for pages to load & dealing with buffer under run all the time (not like the bill fluctuates to reflect the actual provided service). The best performance I have seen is usually very early in the morning or late at night but otherwise it’s a shot in the dark what kind of performance I’ll have. For a whole month I gave up the wireless router & ran a dedicated network cable to the computer with the same results. I tried a different computer in case of malware, virus etc. being a factor & yet still the same thing, I have called & complained yet still……… What I can say is each time I upgrade to a higher bandwidth package the internet runs smoothly for the first couple days then slowly deteriorates, this can’t be coincidence? I think not.
