35-Year-Old Woman Arrested After Car Overturns

Car Accident Bermuda, July 25 2013-1[Updated] Emergency services responded to an accident on Harrington Sound Road near the junction with Wilkinson Avenue at approximately 5pm today [July 25].

A car was being driven on Harrington Sound Road when the driver was involved in a collision which saw the car overturn. Police subsequently blocked traffic flow through the area diverting vehicles away from the scene.

Fire service personnel tended to the driver of the car, who did not appear to be seriously injured. Emergency personnel righted the vehicle onto its four wheels and cleared the debris before a tow truck removed the car, clearing the road for traffic flow to resume at approximately 5.45pm.

Update July 26, 11.53am: The police said the car overturned and the driver, a 35 year old Southampton woman, was temporarily trapped in the vehicle before being extricated. She was subsequently arrested on suspicion of impaired driving.

Around 5pm on Thursday, July 25th police and first responders attended a reported single vehicle collision on Wilkinson Avenue in Hamilton parish in the vicinity of Fractious Street.

Details regarding how the collision occurred remain unclear at this time; however the car involved was found overturned on Wilkinson Avenue.

The driver, a 35 year old Southampton woman, was temporarily trapped in the vehicle before being extricated.

She apparently sustained minor injuries and was subsequently arrested on suspicion of impaired driving. There were no other injuries reported; however the car was damaged.

Traffic was temporarily diverted away from the scene. Inquiries into this collision are ongoing and any witnesses are encouraged to contact PC Francine Hodgson on 295-0011.
