July 6, 2013

A Bermuda youth team, between the ages of 10 – 14, will take centre stage at the 2013 World Jump Rope Championship, which is being held in Orlando, Florida, July 5 – 12, 2013.

“This is a first for Bermuda”, a spokesperson said. “Bermuda can watch the live stream on www.worldjumprope.org starting today at 2:00 pm local time with the Parade of Nations.

“Bermuda’s “Somersfield Star Squad” will also be competing today at 3:00 pm local time. They will be joined later in the week by the Northlands Hot Steppers for the camp portion of the event. Let’s support our young people by tuning in and watching Bermuda make history”.

Jump 2B Fit, led by Sionna Barton, is part of the healthy youth initiative started by the Bermuda Heart Foundation. The recreation-based curriculum introduces children to a structured jump rope program as the foundation to learn about nutrition, fitness, and health.

The program helps children of all ages and abilities to develop lifelong habits to the practice of health, physical activity, and good nutrition.
