Premier Cannonier To Speak At Forum In London

October 24, 2013

The Cabinet Office said that Premier Craig Cannonier will lead a delegation to attend the 2013 World Islamic Economic Forum in London next week in an effort to strengthen Bermuda’s relations with member countries of the Gulf Cooperation Council [GCC].

Joining the Premier will be the Minister of Finance Bob Richards and senior members from the Ministry of Finance. The Premier will be a panelist and will speak on the topic of: ‘Changing World, New Relationships’.

Other members on the panel range from the Sultan of Brunei, the King of Jordan, the President of Afghanistan, the President of Kosovo, the Prime Minister of Morocco, the Crown Prince of Bahrain and the Prince of Dubai to name a few.

Premier Cannonier stressed that the importance of next week’s forum “cannot be understated” and viewed the occasion as “a critical opportunity to tell the Bermuda story”.

The Premier said, “The World Islamic Economic Forum is a very important and strategic opportunity for Bermuda. As the overwhelming majority of the countries in attendance will be Islamic, we will have a captive audience who will want to understand what Bermuda is about and what our offering is.

“This is an opportunity for us to tell Bermuda’s very compelling story and to leverage the ground work that was established by former Premier Paula Cox and her delegation at the World Islamic Economic Forum a few years ago. As always, our aim is to stimulate business investment and job opportunities for Bermudians.”

The statement from the Cabinet Office said, “It should be noted that the Premier will already be in London this weekend to participate in the Bermuda Government’s London Office Networking event. The World Islamic Economic Forum starts on Monday October 28.”

  1. Tiptoes says:

Let Bob talk please, please let Bob talk.

Craig is a out right embarrassment, he reminds me of past Vice President Dan Quayle.

Please OBA let Bob talk at this forum.

    • Betty Trump says:

I think you are correct….a huge cry that Craig must not speak…but not sure Bob is a real winner either…oh I see your really concern about the ability of Craig to speak…I wonder if it due to his lack of ability to handle such matters, or is it that he lacks real knowledge in this area and others. But guess his speech writer will go with him, and pass him a hand card with words on it, each time before he speaks..REALLY

      • somuchless says:

betty trump, go away… farrrrrrr away.

      • Impressive says:

yeah,, it really is a big farce isn’t it,, How long will they continue to play this commercial??

      • haha says:

Yeah because the PLP never had speech writers ever. STFU already. Don’t you lot get tired of repeating the same old B$ time and time again, especially when it aink true.

Craig can speak, he wouldn’t have made it this far if he couldn’t, not to mention runs a successful business, which is a far cry for some of the PLP members.

Yes there are terrible bloggers on both sides, but you are some of the worst as far as regurgitating false B$ and claiming its true. Oh craig this, craig sucks at speaking, bla bla bla, GET OFF HIS N**S!!!

Besides better you can’t even type, so I’d hate to see what you’re speaking is like. GROW UP!

        • More WaysTo Learn Than One says:

It’s one thing to have speech writers, but all the time it seems – for the PREMIER at that? Come on. Other OBA supporters also agree that Craig should not be the front man. If he isn’t speaking form pre-rehearsed notes, he really doesn’t seem to speak directly or coherently on the political matter at hand. Bob does actually, although he too makes errors, but he does seem to have a better handle, as does Dunkley and a few other old school politicians who have been properly groomed over years.

        • Impressive says:

Grow up?? but you on a forum telling people to STFU, because you don’t like what they have to say, but then you tell us to grow up?? makes perfect sense. check yourself mate.

Craig is way out of his depth and is a public embarrassment. He can’t speak on issues without resorting to reminding us how bad the PLP left the country, which may or may not be true, but that is not going to help anything at the moment.

Its painfully obvious that our Premier was put there for “cosmetic” reasons. He was someone who was new to politics and as such didn’t have any “political baggage” that adversaries could use against him. He is tall, charming and grabs attention when he speaks, so he probably seemed perfect at the time as the OBA was attempting to brand itself as “not the UBP” initially.

Having said all of that, there is one major problem, the individual that they chose doesn’t have the intellect to be a leader of a country, especially at a time like this, when the country needs a strong competent leader.

So where does that leave us all?? PLP and OBA supporters.. A country in turmoil lead by a Premier who is good at taking pictures, shaking hands and cutting ribbons.

          life as we know it

          • More WaysTo Learn Than One says:

Good point Impressive – well points. But to add on to that, charm wears off once it is realised that there is no depth to speech or actions. Mr. Cannonier may grab attention when he speaks for some (which may wear off after a while), but upon listening and digesting, one is left with saying…wait a minute, he speaking a whole lot, but saying nothing at all. smh. Can liken the situation to a cute but not so well spoken/good thinking model for a car commercial or a cute not so well spoken/good thinking model for an underwear or cologne commercial. Don’t let her/him speak…

          • JAWS says:

Yea I voted UBP and then OBA. No Craig should not be the leader but at this current time I’d rather have a man under control as a suck puppet then a PLP maverick.

            Next subject please.

      • Really?? says:

@ Betty Trump…..lololol…..in every area of your comment you are correct!!! Technically, he really needs to step dwn. He is NOT and I repeat..NOT ready for the position of premier (note I put premier with a small “p”) lol

        • Hmmm says:

but yet you all applaued the bobble headed flowery, never answer a question, invisible Cog in the wheel.

Give me a break. Look in the mirror and in your own house before you judge.

      • jt says:

His grammar skills far exceed yours Betty, and he’s easier to understand than Ms. Cox and her pseudo intelligencia mumbo jumbo. One thing The Doc could do was speak….one thing.

    • Raymond Ray says:

I must agree with you, “Tipoes”Though I also admire our Premier Craig Cannonier but I too see Minister of Finance, Bob Richards as being (by far)more astute when it comes down to addressing people, but especially them of the stature that will be in attendance at this forum…

      • Impressive says:

        exactly!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    • Really?? says:

@ Tiptoes…..lololol…….Cldn’t agree with you more! Craig Cannonier has the inability to speak publicly or privately! An embarrassment to Bermuda hving a person in his position that cannot speak correctly!!! *eye rollin’*

      • Double Standards says:

        Same way I felt/feel about Derrick Burgess…

        • Impressive says:

which may be true,, but he was never the Premier,

        • More WaysTo Learn Than One says:

Yes, DS – he (Derrick Burgess) would have been awful as Premier. Led my a bad temperament on one too many occasions…and yes,Impressive – thankfully he was never Premier.

  2. Concerned Citizen says:

Giving credit where it is due……well, I must respect the Premier for that. Quite a change. But chalk this up to another continuation of good PLP work. I wish much success to the delegation in their efforts. There are some A-listers on this panel, and that can translate into good business for Bermuda. Paula Cox must have a smile on her face thinking about you Oba haters who are now scratching their heads trying to think of a deflection/excuse for what is obvious. Hate doctor Brown, continue his works(grand slam golf, cruise ship gaming etc), hate Paula, continue her works(like this), hate Marc Bean, continue his works(telecoms reform, blue economy/blue halo), hate the PLP……..

    • Mike Hind says:

Isn’t this proof that folks actually understand that the PLP had some good ideas and that the criticism wasn’t actually racist bias against “The Black Party” and was, in fact, about mismanagement and bad ideas?

      • mixitup says:

MH – You don’t get friggin tired?! Gosh go on a vacation or something, you’re really begining to bore people.

        • Hmmmm says:

I think Mr Hind gives a very balanced and reasoned response. The trumps on the other hand…well…..

        • Uncle Elvis says:

You don’t like my posts, there’s an easy fix. Nobody is forcing you to read them.

      • Concerned Citizen says:

        Serious mike? Racist bias? Smh

      • More WaysTo Learn Than One says:

so not cool MH. really. there you go stereotyping yourself…or worse.

      • Uncle Elvis says:

I notice that none of you actually address what I said in my post.

        Why is that?

        • Hmmmmm says:

If the pursuit of Islamic financing, an office in Washington DC, an office on London, municipal reform, relations with China, student receptions in London and a few other things were all bad and severley criticized by OBA politicians and their supporters when part of the PLP’s policies but are now pursued by the OBA in government and supported by the OBA’s supporters, what explains that? Is it as one of your Ministers said “its not the message but the messenger”?

          • Uncle Elvis says:

You’d have to show that it’s the exact same people that spoke against it that are now supporting it. Otherwise it’s like saying that all PLP supporters believe what “Betty Trump” says, which is obviously not true.

          • JD says:

How about some direct quotes, or links to statements, or a fact…

            • Hmmmmm says:

Are you seriously suggesting that we debate what the OBA said against these things while in Opposition? Just accept the flip flop. Accept that you and they demonized everything the PLP did purely based on something besides the merits of the ideas. Accept that little or no vision has been shown by the OBA in government other than cutting the civil service and increasing the profits of the rich through concessions and tax breaks. If you seriously think anyone doesn’t recall the plethora of parliamentary questions on travel, the accusations of any and all travel being boondoggles and junkets, the suggestion that the London Office and the DC Office were ego trips and unecessary, then you’re smoking something which is not yet legal. There is no debate here. Admit it and move on.

              • Mike Hind says:

Nope. I’m gonna have to ask you to prove it’s the exact same people. Gross generalizations are not the way to go.

    • Hmmmm says:

Cruse ship…… You mean the heratige wharf mess that the OBA had to fix …after a PLP EPIC FAIL, where our tax dollars had to fix it. Uigergate, Coggate, ClubMedgate, playboygate, Berkleygate,Bondgate, refuse to take paycutgate, statuegate, whites islandgate, dame brown buildinggate, grand atlantic gate, …..it goes on and on.

      • Raymond Ray says:

        :-( Sad, but true

      • Hopefulness says:

Did you also realize that OBA are over Budget and failed to meet the deadline at Wharf. I am not into politics, but lets be fair and honest. I feel let down by the many mistakes and mess ups the OBA has made since winning the government. It is not what I expected. I am not sure they will have my vote in the future. I am tried of this finger pointing and would rather see the OBA create Jobs for people and grow our economy. It is getting old this continued back and forward and attacks on the PLP, for what? Lets grow up and get our country moving in the right direction.

        • haha says:

Fine overbudget once compared to the numerous products the PLP have been overbudget on.

What many mistakes and mess ups have the OBA made in their 10 months? Lets see you back up your baseless claims…..um waitin!

          • Betty Trump says:

Hi there ha ha, I am laughing now as you have choose to overlook more so forget the fisco of your OBAubp govt. Wow so far they have broken almost 8 per-election promises. Mess ups….well I can name a few for @Hopefulness for ya…..

Here is just a little something to trigger your memory laps

AG has screwed up almost everything he has touched. You do not wan

So can you now recall your Minister Trevor Moniz set a timeline to complete the Wharf in Dockyard and budget, he promised loudly on the news, that he will not go over budget and finish on time. He called the PLP all kinds of names in regards to the dock, yet he failed to hold to his own promised. Guess short-term memory deficit is something the OBAubp faithful suffer from..REALLY

The Hope of promises are dead in the water…the OBAubp have surely Over promised and under delivered…just a FACT…

            • haha says:

Ok fine. I will agree that the OBA maybe messed up when it came to finishing the dock on time/overbudge (by a fraction), but it WOULD NOT have been that way had the PLP/Correia messed up in the first place.

I will give you that one Betty. Now GIVE ME EXAMPLES of how the OBA actually messed up, not something that you blow out of proportion.

You talk about promises, why don’t you harp on the PLP’s promises that were never fulfilled, it’s the same thing on both sides, we could go on and on, but I’m just curious as to how the OBA is really messing up here, also the AG.

PLEASE PROVIDE ACTUAL AND FACTUAL EXAMPLES BELOW if it’s not too hard for you. Thanks and I do hope you respond.

        • Double Standards says:

The deadline was missed because the project should have started in November 2012. This was confirmed by Min. Derrick Burgess in the RG during one of his rants about the progress of the project.

Why didn’t they start it you ask? Because they were more worried about how it would reflect upon the PLP just prior to the election.

          Power before the people.

          • Betty Trump says:

Double Standard, I understand your short/long term memory deficit is something OBAubp diehards like you suffer from….. Do you recall your

So can you now recall your Minister Trevor Moniz set a timeline to complete the Wharf in Dockyard and budget, he promised loudly on the news, that he will not go over budget and finish on time. He called the PLP all kinds of names in regards to the dock, yet he failed to hold to his own promises. He actually was bragging about this matter. Guess short-term memory deficit is something the OBAubp faithful suffer from..REALLY ….He failed on all of his promises in regards to the Wharf… I mean really….

            • Double Standards says:

              Betty,

Why didn’t the PLP begin the necessary repairs in November 2012? Why did they let politics intervene into a project of national importance?

Also, please advise as to why the PLP stopped auditing the public pensions since 2005 and received four consecutive qualified audits on the consolidated fund?

Die hard? How hypocritical are you?

    • Time Shall Tell says:

Makes one stop & ask, was it really the work they hated or the workers???

      • Hmmmm says:

I hated the mismanagement of the taxpayers money, a pigheaded…doing anyway attitude (grand altlantic for eg) the constant racial propaganda rather than campaigning on merits and the lack of ANY transparency. They managed the country by directing their spending for votes…that buys votes and an unsustainable expense base, not a healthy economy for us and our chikdren to survive in. They did have some interesting ideas….ideas should not win praise…..action and results wins praise….easy to have an idea….but the real work is delivering.

    • Hopefulness says:

Thanks you, while I voted for the OBA I must say the PLP did have some great ideas. The OBA seem to be following most of them put in place or started by Brown and Cox. I think we need to come together and stop this backward and forward attacking, it gets us no where. Give credit were it is due, and the fact is PLP has done some good things, and not so good things, but this is common practice for all governments. Lets move on folks. The OBA need to get focus and begin to create some real jobs for Bermudians.

      • More WaysTo Learn Than One says:

With you on this Hopefulness. work together…and want to work together not be the ‘star’ of the show. IF Marc Bean is saying ok let’s work together, stop being so derisive about his comments and actually take him/PLP up on it and see if it is genuine and can actually work – before being so negative and even hateful in blogging and the like

    • haha says:

Marc Bean has nothing and had nothing to do with Blue Halo. Straight up.

  3. Robert says:

Well truth is, this is all he is good for, photo opps and the like

  4. Common Sense says:

I fully agree with Concerned Citizen about giving credit where credit is due. There is no doubt that it was the former PLP Government under Premier Paula Cox who initiated action in attending the World Islamic Economic Forum, and yer without doubt, it is good for Bermuda. It is also absolutely true that Dr Ewart Brown initiated some very positive actions during his tenure, and that the present leader of the PLP has made positive contributions and will hopefully continue to do so.

What is completely untrue is that Concerned Citizens appears to want to put all those who voted for or supported the OBA into OBA haters (of the PLP). That is a nonsense. It is as ludicrous as saying that the UBP never did any good during the many years they were in power.

Sadly, the UBP lost their way, and just as sadly so did the PLP. In the end it was their negatives that outweighed their positives.

Trying to build up support for the PLP by spreading hatred and contempt for the OBA (just check out the post from ‘Tiptoes’ for a perfect example) will only damage our country and continue to divide us. Maybe that’s what some people want, but there are thousands of people who want to travel the middle road and support the Government of the day when they do good, and criticize them when they make mistakes.

Attending the World Islamic Economic Forum is a good thing. Having our Premier attend and speak at the forum is a good thing. Having Minister of Finance Bob Richards attend and speak is a good thing. Having ‘Tiptoes” try in vain to pour contempt on our Premier is a bad thing.

  5. Question says:

My only statement on this topic will be this:

I hope this forum works in the best interest of my country and I am very interested in how those OBA supporters will be able to justify their support of this PLP policy item.

    Q

    • Mike Hind says:

      See my post above…

      • Question says:

It is possible to come to that conclusion, yes Mike. However, having one acknowledge that fact would be nice – just a request for the current government.

The PLP did mess things up – acknowledged.
The OBA won the election – acknowledged.
The former government did make some inroads with Islamic countries on which we now are trying to capitalize – wouldn’t that be nice.

        Q

        • JD says:

I’m confused. It seems like you are arguing with yourself.

      • The Ombudsman makes a statement and says:

Mike Hind be a real man and get a guitar your image is all wrong

        • Uncle Elvis says:

Why the off topic personal attack about something you obviously know absolutely nothing about?
          Why is this ok?

Come out from behind the hood and show us who you are and MAYBE I’ll take your advice on my image, if it turns out you have knowledge and experience. Until them? I’m sure you’ll just keep spreading racist hate like usual.

    • Sandy Bottom says:

You’re back with that myth again? Prove what you’re alleging.

      • Question says:

What are you referring to because I don’t understand your post?

        What myth?

People above have already established that this connection was created under the former government – so what did I post that is alleged?

        Q

  6. Vote for Me says:

“This is an opportunity for us to tell Bermuda’s very compelling story and to leverage the ground work that was established by former Premier Paula Cox and her delegation at the World Islamic Economic Forum a few years ago.”

This statement reflects the reality of Bermuda’s international involvement. Prior initiatives of the PLP that are deemed appropriate should be continued. Despite prior criticism, this type of forum is unique in its ability to attract the necessary capital investment that Bermuda needs.

I recommend MP Gibbons as an attendee.

There will be some caveats as we engage further, but the initial engagement is critical.

  7. swing voter says:

Cox may have initiated this ‘possibility’ of attracting Arab money but if uncle Bob n cousin Craig deliver the goods, everybody wins including the green machine supporters

    • Betty Trump says:

OBAubp riding off the brilliant ideas of the PLP, that’s how it looks to me, after all the OBAubp lack any creative ways to develop alternative Revenue streams for Bermuda. It was the brain child of the PLP, not the OBAUbp, so do not overlook that fact…guess the PLP have great ideas after all…. More so guess who has increased our debt levels in just over 5 months..it is the oBAupb, the PLP did it over a long, long, slow period of 14 years….REALLY….

      • Mike Hind says:

Of course that’s how it looks to you! Your bias is very well documented

      • haha says:

Ready for your mind to be blown.

The OBA HAD TO, I’ll say it again

        HAD TO
        HAD TO
        HAD TO
        HAD TO
        HAD TO
        HAD TO
        HAD TO
        HAD TO

        got it yet?!

HAD TO increase the debt, which your beloved PLP created, in order for this country to survive, real talk, and if you don’t see that then you’re just blind, deaf and dumb. Really and truly. REALLY….!

  8. The Ombudsman makes a statement and says:

Lord have Mercy well now we will look completely stupid, arrogant, and a know it all with out knowing anything which is as evident as it is obvious….Whenever he speaks its like watching a bad rehearsed low budget commercial where the exclamation points are miss read and the hand movements doesn’t agree with the points made. Bob Richards is a lil bit more slick with his tongue and is careful not to sound stupid sometimes..but sometimes that doesnt work either

    • swing voter says:

One word describes your post…IDIOTIC ….BTW take a moment to reflect on the following quotes that outright harmed our clean hands image:

I don’t care what they think
      People who look like me
      We had to deceive you
      Debt is good
We are on the road to economic recovery
If that Honorable Member is acting like a racist dog

      • More WaysTo Learn Than One says:

PLP MPs et al have said those words – very derisive, unacceptable, inappropriate. Most certainly!! I would hop they have learned form the err of their hasty words spilling from tempered thoughts. I would also wager that these thoughts may have also been in other ruling political parties minds, but they at least knew not to actually SPEAK the words. cheese. PLP were novices at ruling the island, whilst UP and now some of OBA were/now have some polished veterans. The polished must bring the unpolished up to speed – in both parties. Politicians are first only human, with their own sets of biases etc, so at times thoughts such as those may slip through their minds. But to be a public speaker (ie politician, esp leader of a country) with an intent to spread the message of a party to BENEFIT the party and most hopefully, most importantly, the people – one must master thinking before speaking (irrationally/counter-actively to the masses), and speaking with true, learned confidence on topics of which one has become learned. Thomas Jefferson has had more than a handful of spoken/written views on government scribed so that those that came after him were very aware of the nature of govt, including Thomas Paine: Government, even in its best state, is but a necessary evil; in its worst state, an intolerable one.
at some point in any government’s ‘life’, they have played either side of that saying..which is why governments come and go, as do politicians.

      • Impressive says:

Not to play this childish back and forth game, but the Attorney General in 2013, made some very disrespectful comments to the entire Christian Community, why don’t I hear this repeated over and over and over again??????????????????????

        • Mike Hind says:

We do. Over and over and over. It’s constantly brought up by your side as an example that he should be kicked out.

Yet, we never, ever hear from you guys anything about the horrible and hateful things said by members of the PLP that day.

          I wonder why.

  9. lifeblood says:

Is the Premier fully aware of what the World Islamic Economic Forum is about? I don’t know what “Bermuda story” he’s going to tell, but Islamic finance is designed to operate under Islamic Shariah (or Sharia)law. That means non-Muslim countries or banks which take part will eventually and essentially agree to modify current, non-Muslim financial controls in accordance with strict Islamic principles of finance. This won’t be the typical, secular Business Forum. The Premier’s statement in this news story simply comprise nice words with little in terms of real information.

    • Impressive says:

Is that any different from how his statements normally go though??

  10. watching says:

I am fearful for Premier Cannonier to speak in this forum. However I expect he will stick to the script and in this type of forum there will be little “hard” questions for him to fumble.
As long as he doesn’t storm off the stage this time.

    • Uncle Elvis says:

As long as he’s not asked irrelevant and inappropriate questions, I’m sure he won’t.

      • Impressive says:

so being the leader of the country,, does he only work on Sunny days?? or does he get up and go in when its raining aswell?? My point is that the circumstances are not always going to be ideal and his actions on that occasion where unprofessional and dare I say cowardly.

        • Mike Hind says:

          Uh huh.
Do you think he’s weak and a puppet, too? Do you think he has “Bosses”?

          Your bias is showing.

Go back and look at that incident with objective eyes.

  11. Common sense says:

Common sense tells me the OBA are doing a good job in cleaning up the mess inherited from the incompetent PLP.

    • Hmmmmm says:

Your commons sense has let you down. The media environment has changed and it is that which is forming your opinions, just as it did with the PLP. Everything the OBA is doing is identical or incredibly similar to the PLP but it is treated differently by the media. For example, when the PLP cited an increase in incorporations as a positive economic indicator, the OBA and the media trashed such statements because they didn’t equate to jobs for Bermudians or jobs locally period. However, has one reporter asked Dr. Gibbons what his stats mean for jobs ? Of course not. The only thing that has changed is the media’s treatment of this Government.

      • Uncle Elvis says:

Everything? I think that might be overstating.

        • Hmmmmm says:

          Permit me to quote you:

I notice that none of you actually address what I said in my post.

          Why is that?

          • JD says:

“Everything the OBA is doing is identical or incredibly similar to the PLP”

You must inhabit a separate reality from me.

How about Term Limits? Human Rights? Reducing government spending. You do remember that story right. It was back in July..stick with me here…click the link…you can do it.

            • Betty Trump says:

Reducting govt spenting? Yet the OBAubp increased our debt levels in less than 5 months, while the PLP did it over a long, long, slow period of 14 years. REALLY….I think not…this govt is not doing anything that is original to move Bermuda forward…WHERE IS TEH PLAN to grow our economy…I do not see it anywhere…yet….

              • Bermudez says:

                I agree.

They should’ve simple stopped paying the already established financial obligations and cut the civil service to avoid having to borrow more due to a cash shortage.

I mean that is what you must be advocating for, right? If you are against borrowing then you must be an advocate for austerity, right?

Nah, you would have called them irresponsible and heartless if they came in an instituted severe, but necessary, austere measures. But now instead you can scream that they are driving uo the debt.

Damned if they do or damned if they don’t with you lot.

Speaking out of your both sides of your mouth, as usual.

                • Betty Trump says:

@Bermudez: The Real problem is that the OBAubp spoke from both sides of their mouths. They made these “BIG PROMISES” Pre-election, which they knew would be almost impossible to keep. They engaged in a game of fooling some folks, but not all. They played a poltical strategy game, but now no able to stand by it. This they should have never done, only too what…WIN VOTES>….this is where the problem lies. If they had just ran an honest election campaign and been honest to the people of Bermuda, such would not be the case today…. false promises are the sign of a weak OBAubp party.

It was the OBAubp whom said that all the PLP did was borrow, yet they are doing the very same thing. They pulled the PLP down for doing what they turned around and did the same thing….

They sang out loud that everything the PLP did was wrong…yet they have adopted most of the good things PLP had began to implement,,,,,,,,, yet quickly taking away things that benefited the average man whom today is suffering big time. Really ….

It was the OBAubp whom said, they would lower our debt levels…. yet they have increased it with in 5 short months

It was the OBAubp whom promised folks they will not fire the CS, ….yet OBAUbp are close to doing just that…

You see all those Pre-election Promises, put the OBAubp just where they are, in a Tangle Web they spun and are now continuing to Spin…No need to OVER promise and UNDER Deliver….. stop with it..

              • Mike Hind says:

You really don’t have any idea what you’re talking about, do you?

                Seriously…

Or do you and you’re being outright dishonest with your distortions of the truth?

          • Mike Hind says:

Um… Did you miss the part where you said “Everything the OBA is doing is identical or incredibly similar to the PLP…”

I WAS addressing something you said in your post. THIS is the base of your premise, that EVERYTHING they are doing is identical or incredibly similar to the PLP.

I think that is incorrect, as the PLP, to give one example, didn’t amend the HRA to protect a group of people in our community from discrimination.

Your base premise is incorrect, so I spoke to that. Everything else based on this premise is irrelevant.

Did that explain sufficiently and will you now discuss and debate, or is this going to be another hit-and-run?

I’m still waiting for him to appear on Let’s Talk with Gary Moreno. I recall on the news a few weeks ago he said there was no reason he hasn’t been on the show, yet the reporter noted Mr. Cannonier had been asked no less than 5 times and had declined each time.

    • Hmmm says:

Perhaps he doesn’t want to be a pop icon, perhaps he is extremely busy.

      • More WaysTo Learn Than One says:

Yes, very busy rehearsing speeches and trying his best to be a good listener to his bosses :-)

        • Mike Hind says:

By “his bosses”, do you mean “The People Of Bermuda”?

          If not, who? Name names.

Or are you just spreading more smear?

  13. terry says:

    I need a rum.

  14. Say Say Say says:

Get over it Betty, its almost a year now.

  15. Economist says:

Keep up the good work Premier Cannonier.

  16. Economist says:

    All the way,oba

  17. Alvin Williams says:

I doubt that this OBA premier knew where the Gulf countries were yet alone
going to speak at an investment forum for the area?
Yet this is good over all for the country; so I am not going to be like finance Minister Bob Richards when he bad mouth Paula Cox when she was attacked by the premier of the Cayman Island even agreeing with that foreign leader’s anti-Bermudian remarks. So when we are talking about
digging a hole for the country the OBA has forgotten it role in doing the exact same thing when it was the political opposition. But here is a little advise for the OBA premier. For the love of the country don’t embarrass Bermuda by speaking on those topics you know nothing About.

    • Mike Hind says:

This is just outright smear, based on nothing but sour grapes that your party lost.

      Do better.

      • Betty Trump says:

OUtright Smear, I think you need to go do some research , and re-read the 100s of comments by your diehard supporters when this idea was first mention by Mrs. Cox. I think the Smear spoken by the OBAubp fans, and MPs. My how we forget so Quickly or are we suffering from the OBAubp Denial Syndrome. I think you would also find your Evidence as to whom was actually doing the real Smearing…. REALITY CHECK..

        • Mike Hind says:

If you had an ounce of integrity, someone MIGHT take you seriously…

But you’ve lied so many times… this time included… that you’re just a ridiculous joke.

If you had any evidence, why not show it?
Oh, wait… it’s better to allude to it than show it, right?
Or is it simply that it isn’t there.

My guess would be that this is yet another deluded fabrication from the fevered brain of one “Betty Trump”.

You’re not fooling anyone except the diehards, “Betty”.

  18. Sweaty Tramp says:

OBA is messing everything up. Mumble mumble mumble. PLP is the greatest mumble mumble. Let’s get back to PLP domination repeat repeat repeat. OBA are out for themselves drool drool……
