November 24, 2013

The Arts Centre’s Christmas Small Works Show opens tonight [Nov 24] in Dockyard at 5.30pm until 7.30pm with everything from jewellery to stockings to fine art.

A spokesperson said, “We are inviting everyone to join us for a Glass of Bubbly and a fun night. Everyone will be a winner in our “Reindeer Raffle”.

“The art work entered is no larger than 8.5 x 11″. Affordable and easy to pack. Great things come in small packages. We have many of Bermuda’s leading artists that have entered into this show. Everything from jewellery to stockings to fine art has been entered, so when we say that there is something for everyone – we’re not exaggerating.

“This year the Arts Centre is bringing out the “Green” in Christmas. There are 4 -5 foot decorated Cedar Trees that will be sold in pots. We are hoping that this year, one might save a tree and plant a cedar.

“We hope that everyone will admire our home made Bay-Grape Christmas Tree at the front entrance. With all the natural decorations that are laying around the Island, free for the taking, perhaps we can put a little more Island feel back into our Christmas and leave the commercial plastic items.

“In following with this idea, Ronnie Chameau has her solo show entitled “Au Natural”. It’s amazing what she can do with dry casaurina roots – turning them into candle holders and baskets.

“Her driftwood wreaths are something that will make any door look inviting. Also included in her show are banana bark paintings and a beautiful selection of banana leaf angels.

“Small Works is a revolving Show. As the work is sold it will be replaced. The show runs from November 24 – January 10 and the Arts Centre is open every day from 11am – 4pm.”
