  1. Terry says:

So who was is the present Commandant.
    Sorry.
    Out of the loop.

    • nuffin but the truth says:

      Terry,hmmmm,errr,that’s a sore point.

  2. nuffin but the truth says:

    Well Done Cannoth Roberts

  3. Kangoocar says:

Spent 7 yrs in the police reserves starting in 1981, really enjoyed working with true regular police officers, huge difference to who we have out there today!!

  4. Coffee says:

While congrats are in order , this program needs to be cut due to shortfalls in government revenue .

    • Really? says:

I’d say the complete opposite. Volunteers to compliment full-time officers. Given our current situation why would this need to be cut?

  5. Here we go again says:

Coffee, when you don’t know, find out before speaking. These fine men and women of the Bermuda Reserve Police are exactly what you need in these times. They perform the same functions as your paid officers…..as volunteers. You can’t even tell the difference….and they may have done something for you, and you didn’t even know they were Reserves. I say SPEND the money on this organization, and they could save you, the taxpayer, in the long run. Think about that before you speak. Well done, and continue to “Keep Bermuda Safe”

    • Truth Seeker says:

Here we go again, I’m not sure your statement is actually correct. You can’t tell the difference between regular and reserve officers. Maybe you need to take your own advice and think before you speak and do a fact check. There are noticeable differences. With that said well done to the newly promoted reserve officers.

  6. Plodding says:

When you knock off work of an evening these dedicated individuals also do. However when you return home to your loved ones and prepare dinner and settle down to an evening of TV these individuals are putting on their uniforms, kissing their spouses and children goodnight and volunteering their spare time in a colaborative effort in trying to make Bermuda a safer place. Whether or not you can tell the difference between a career officer or a reserve officer, ask yourself what have you done recently to make Bermuda a safer place?

  7. Common Sense says:

Yes, it’s all the fashion these days to knock every institution and every organisation, but I would like to sincerely congratulate Commandant Cannoth Roberts and Deputy Commandant Ron-Michel Davis on their promotions to the top of the Reserve Police.

In answer to Terry the retiring Commandant was Jerry Robinson who held the post for several years.

I have to wonder if Cannoth Roberts is a chip off the old block because I’m fairly sure that his father was a Police Sergeant many years ago, as was his Uncle Anthony Roberts, both of whom were also great cricketers. There may even have been other members of the Roberts family who have served in the Police. Perhaps we should thank the Roberts family for giving many many years of service to Bermuda.

Not sure who should take “Truth Seekers” advice, but can he look carefully at the photographs of these senior Reserve officers, do a ‘fact check’ and let us know just how many differences there are between regular officers and these reserve officers because I’m having a little difficulty spotting those noticebale differences he refers to!

  8. Proud says:

The reserve officers no longer wear the badges “Bermuda Reserve Police”. This decision was made a few years ago by the powers that be. The reserve officers perform all duties like the career officers. Several of the RO have crossed over and become career officers. They take promotion exams, continue to do required training and refresher courses. Thank you Bermuda Reserve Officers.
