Women’s Futsal League Weekend Results

A total of twenty-four goals were scored in the latest round of the Women’s Futsal League at the Warwick Academy Gymnasium.

Dandy Stars 7 Footy Force Stars 3

In an entertaining game, both teams were evenly matched with Dandy Stars slightly ahead at the end of the first-half, 3 – 2. In the second-half, Dandy Stars showed their experience and pulled ahead scoring 4 goals to Footy Force’s 1, to win the match 7 – 3.

With the win, Dandy Stars is still in with a mathematical chance to win the league if the PHC Lady Zebras loose both of their remaining matches, one of which is against Dandy Stars next week.

Rayni Maybury, returning from college, was outstanding for Dandy Stars scoring 4 goals. Kyla Ramatar scored twice and Cleshaunay Darrell-Virgil scored once. Leah Smith, Zahra Gibbons and LeiLanni Nesbeth all scored a goal each for Footy Force.

PHC Lady Zebras 4 Somerset Hurricanes 4

The game of the evening saw the PHC Lady Zebras miss the chance to clinch the league title and, instead, they had to settle for a draw against a very determined Somerset Hurricanes team.

The PHC Lady Zebras were challenged throughout the entire game and thankfully their player Aaliyah Nolan returned from injury to help her team with 2 important goals in the first-half. At the end of the first-half, the game was tied up at 3 all. The second-half saw both teams play a much more defensive game with each team scoring only 1 goal to end the match tied at 4 all.

Jessica Furtado was MVP for PHC scoring 2 goals and Shauntae Todd was MVP for the Somerset Hurricanes scoring a hat trick, while Sierra Fisher added the other.

Hamilton Parish 5 Young Men Social Club Lady Bluebirds 1

An entertaining match between the 5th and 6th placed teams saw a close game with HPWC leading 3 to 1 at the end of the first-half. However, Hamilton Parish came out in the second-half more focused and scored 2 more goals to win the game 5 – 1, over the Young Men Social Club Lady Bluebirds.

Kaelah Ming was outstanding for Hamilton Parish scoring 4 goals, while Juliette Basden added the other, Zekiah Lewis was the MVP for the Young Men Social Club Lady Bluebirds playing outstanding in defense, with Kyanne Scott-Fishenden scoring their lone goal.
