BELCO Cup: Willow Cuts & Cleveland Advance
The first two rounds of the 2014 BELCO Cup took place this weekend, with the end of play seeing Cleveland County and Willow Cuts advance to the BELCO Cup Semi-Finals, where they will face St. David’s Cricket Club and the defending champions Southampton Rangers.
BELCO Cup Saturday Results
Bailey’s Bay Win: Bailey’s Bay 261/7 Somerset Cricket Club 134
At the Sea Breeze Oval, Bailey’s bay batted first and scored 261/7 in their allotted 50 overs. Rodney Trott was the top scorer with 75, while captain Stephen Outerbridge added 55, Trott faced 111 balls in his 158 minute inning, hitting 2 fours and 3 sixes. Christian Gibbons was the pick of the Somerset Cricket Club bowlers with figures of 10-0-52-3.
In reply, captain Jekon Edness scored 64 as the Somerset Cricket Club were bowled all out for 64, Jahkai Benjamin added 21, Kyle Hodsoll led the Bailey’s Bay bowling attack returning figures of 9.4-2-20-3.
Western Stars Win: Western Stars 339/7 St. George’s Cricket Club 112
At the St. John’s Field, Temiko Wilson scored 85, Neon Steede added 76, Seion Darrell scored 64 and Ryan Tyrell scored 50 as Western Stars scored 339/7 in their allotted 50 overs. Charlie Marshall returned bowling figures of 3-0-27-2 to led St. George’s Cricket Club, while Makai Young bowled 10-0-60-2.
In reply St. George’s Cricket Club were bowled all out for 112, Troy Hall was the top scorer with 30, while Herbie Bascome added 28. Brian Hall led the Western Stars bowlers with figures of 6.2-1-23-4, while Clay Darrell bowled 7-1-23-3 and Jason Lowe bowled 9-1-43-3.
Willow Cuts Win: Willow Cuts 441/2 Somerset Bridge 153
At the White Hill Field Willow Cuts batted first and scored 441/2 in their allotted 50 overs. Opener Chris Douglas scored 116 runs off 122 deliveries. Douglas hit 11 fours and 4 sixes in his 178 minute stay at the wicket, while Malachi Jones added 105 off 33 deliveries. Jones hit 6 fours and 11 sixes, he was only at the wicket for 36 minutes. Sheroy Fubler added 75 and Deunte Darrell scored 50. Sean Riley and Derick Hill both grabbed a wicket each for Somerset Bridge.
In reply the Somerset Bridge were bowled all out for 153, Noel Woods was the top scorer with 33, while Ryan Shepard added 26 and Donnie Charles scored 25. Jones also led the Willow Cuts bowling attack with figures of 2.5-1-6-3.
Cleveland County Win: Devonshire Recreation Club 141 Cleveland County 147/5
At the Southampton Oval, Lamar Caines scored 33 runs for the Devonshire Recreation Club who were bowled all out for 141, in reply Cleveland County scored 147/5, with Jason Anderson scoring 50 not out.

Cleveland County Win: Cleveland County 228 Western Stars 85
With a spot in the BELCO Cup Semi-Final against St. David’s Cricket Club up for grabs Cleveland County won the toss and elected to bat. They were bowled all out for 228, Jason Anderson was the top scorer with 56, while Treadwell Gibbons added 33, Jason Lowe was the pick of the Western Stars bowlers returning figures of 7-0-35-3. Brian Hall bowled 10-1-26-2 and Neon Steede bowled 8-2-36-2.
In reply Western Stars were bowled all out for 85, Damali Bell steamrolled their batting lineup when the Cleveland County opener finished with figures of 8-1-19-6. Hall was the only Western Stars batsman in double figures scoring 24, Gibbons also had a hand in the bowling department with figures of 6.3-1-13-2 and Lavar Talbot bowled 3-0-9-2.
Willow Cuts Win: Willow Cuts 244 Bailey’s Bay 155
At the White Hill Field, Malachi Jones scored 96 off 85 deliveries to help Willow Cuts score 244, Jones joined Deunte Darrell at the wicket with Willow Cuts 13/3, the pair put on a 105 run 4th wicket partnership. Jones in his 154 minute stay at the wicket saw him hit 11 fours and 2 sizes. Darrell added 37, Kyle Hodsoll led the Bailey’s Bay bowling attack with figures of 9.3-2-22-4.
In reply Bailey’s Bay were bowled all out for 155, Stephen Outerbridge was the top scorer with 47, while Rodney Trott added 26. Jones led the Willow Cuts bowling attack returning figures of 6.3-2-16-4.
Willow Cuts will now face the defending champions Southampton Rangers in the other Semi-Final.
