Dominican Republic Defeat Bermuda 2 – 0

[Updated] The Bermuda U/20 Men’s football team is in the Dominican Republic for the CFU Under 20 World Cup Qualifiers, and are set to take on the hosts today [June 27].

Bermuda was placed in Group 2 and will play against Antigua & Barbuda, Guadeloupe, and host country Dominican Republic. The winners of each group and the two best second placed teams will advance to the final round in Trinidad & Tobago in September 2014.

Bermuda opened the tournament by playing Guadeloupe earlier this week, defeating them 4-3, with Jaz Ratteray Smith scoring the first goal and Rai Simons adding three more.

Bermuda’s team includes Detre Bell, William White, Chae Brangman, Justin Corday, Jahquill Hill, Dakai Grant [captain], Zaire Burchall, Rai Simons, Quintonio Lema, Jibri Salaam, Kiuno Cann, Caldre Burgess, Alanzo Parsons, Justin Donawa, Tehvan Tyrell, Jaz Ratteray, Terrance Webb, Chikosi Basden, Calin Maybury, and Mauriq Hill.

The starting line up for Bermuda for today’s match is: D Bell, T Webb, A Parsons W White, Q Lema, K Cann, J Rattery, J Donawa, Grant, J Corday and R Simons.

Update 6.30pm: As of half time, Dominican Republic lead Bermuda 1-0

Update 6.59pm: Bermuda won a penalty, however the DR goalkeeper saved it. Bermuda is also down to 10 men

Update 8.09pm: The game concludes with Bermuda losing 2-0. They went down to 9 men.
