Huddersfield Lose To Forest, Out Of Capital Cup

August 26, 2014

[Updated] Nahki Wells and his Huddersfield Town teammates will have to overcome Nottingham Forest this evening [Aug 26] to progress in the Capital One Cup.

According to the BBC, Nottingham Forest are unbeaten in eight games with Huddersfield, having won five and drawn three.

Huddersfield Town Caretaker Manager Mark Lillis says the squad is ‘up for the fight’ when Championship leaders Nottingham Forest visit the John Smith’s Stadium for this evening’s match up.

Mr. Lillis said, “It will be a good challenge against Forest, because they’re top of the Championship. They have good players with lots of experience and I’m sure they’ll be targeting promotion to the Premier League this year.

“We’re up for the fight as well. It’s great that we’re at home – we’re looking forward to the game.”

“The Capital One Cup is a great competition and I don’t think teams take it lightly. It’s an important competition for Huddersfield Town, because you never know who is round the corner if you progress.”

Nahki Wells grabbed a hat-trick in Huddersfield’s 5-3 win over Chesterfield in round one of the Capital Cup.

Update 6.15pm: Huddersfield Town’s Capital One Cup journey ended in the second round stage today [Aug 26] after being beaten 2-0 by Nottingham Forest.

Bermuda’s Nahki Wells did not play in the match, with the club saying “Nahki Wells wasn’t risked for Town, after picking up a knock on his ankle during the draw with Charlton Athletic.”

Forest gained two second half goals to progress to the next round of the Cup with Forest’s Henri Lansbury scoring after Huddersfield’s James Vaughan scored an own goal in the 72nd minute.
