  2. Work Nearby says:

I work nearby and was in and out of the park all Saturday afternoon.
There was a large group (about 10-15) drinking and yelling at the north entrance of PLV park most of the afternoon.(near the steps to the parking lot) I imagine they were still there into the early evening. They were loud enough to be heard from all parts of the park. Not sure if they were part of the problem, but it might be a good place to start.

I pass through the park during the business week and there is always a group sitting out drinking.I never see the police in the park, but I do see them shopping in the mall.

      • Truth is killin' me... says:

I agree…by the library to the stairs to Par-la-Ville car park too. Drinking in plain view. Don’t tell me the police don’t see this. Everyone sees it! Lax as f**!!

        • BenJammin says:

An island that tolerates public drinking ultimately leading to violence. While criminalizing the safer alternative. We live in a place where an excuse for domestic violence saying “I was drunk” can pass in court. But an excuse for possession of a plant saying “I’m sick” is ignored

            Free up the Herbs!!

            • get real says:

Weed will not solve anything. If you think it will you are extremely naive.

          • We can change it if we do 4 20 at parliament Hill
The police can not arrest 100 people
Or are we all afraid. That is what the powers want because they are making tooo much money off of it to allow us to treat ourselves to marijuana. It could be free if we all attend Parliament Hill on April 20 2 pm

    • Soooooo says:

Great, go to the police and give a description? Or are you happy to hide behind your computer and just run your mouth?

First, I pray for the individuals speedy recovery. This particular park has been,(literally) for decades a “hang-out” and never has been adequately supervised and due to these facts it often deters many from enjoying a semblance of “tranquility” in the middle of Hamilton.
This and other areas known as “hang-out” can possibly be overseen by police cadets, who can inform certified officers of the behavior of them who are behaving rowdy and prevent violence from occurring.

  5. common sense says:

di they get that mawi guy yet?

  6. Legal Eagle says:

PLPark has become unpleasant-+dangerous!! It’s mid-city-+only steps from our cruise ship visitors! Certainly defeats selling Bermuda as a ‘high end’ destination! Amazed the CH of Comm,COH +general public haven’t complained vigorously enough to the BPS to have them properly police it!!

  7. Ann says:

Par la vile park is a beautiful tranquil park that tourists visit every day, why in heavens name don’t we clean it up and get rid of the trash that hangs out there every day. It is a park not a bar for losers that don’t have anything better to do. This is a simple task, the police don’t seem to care about the bums on front Street, so why not try the park, you can always find kids that should be doing something better!

    • They want it like that I guess it doesn’t affect the people that can make a change. They too bust sipping champaign

  8. Legal Eagle says:

Also amazed the overpaid Head of our BTA hasn’t spent more time on this tourism problem-than photo ops of him Cliff diving!!!

  9. Ann says:

I’m guessing he didn’t have insurance either, so the tax paying public will get to pay for this one too.

  10. get real says:

annnnnnnnnnnnnnd here we go again, blame government for everything because some people refuse to accept responsibility for their own actions.

    • You are definitely out of touch with the Bermudians of my like.
We want things better and have great ideas but no one will let us in as we don’t have millions.
So expect things to get worse until you truly try to understand us and at least consider what we are saying.

I really think that there should be some type of police enforcement at the grounds of Parlaville Park and around the library area. I always see guys smoking and drinking and making their noise, playing their music around the adult Library, and it is not a good look.I feel it puts the library workers jobs In jeopardy, because they are the ones that are mostly subjected to all the noise. I say all of this because nobody seems to have control of it. Yes the library has security and cameras but it’s only so much one security guard can do on duty. Police need to be aware and do something about this situation immediately. It is ridiculous and unacceptable!! It puts the public at risk.
