Willow Cuts defeated Western Stars by 106 runs during yesterday’s [Sept 6] round of play at Lord’s in St. David’s.
The match was reduced to 42 overs due to a damp wicket, and Central County Champions Western Stars won the toss and sent the Western County Champions Willow Cuts to bat.
A 122 run second wicket partnership between Chris Douglas and Deunte Darrell helped guide Willow Cuts to a total of 245/8 in their allotted overs, Douglas was the top scorer with 79, while Darrell added 64 and Kevon Fubler chipped in with 34. Western Stars captain Brian Hall was the pick of the bowlers returning figures of 9-0-40-4, while Jaiden Manders had figures of 7-0-63-2.
In reply Western Stars were all out for 139, with only ten batsmen batting after Seth Campbell was injured and taken to the hospital. Temiko Wilson was the top scorer with 37, Hall added 32 and Makai Young scored 28. Darrell returned figures of 5.5-1-20-4 to lead Willow Cuts to victory, while Fubler had figures of 8-1-21-2.
