Sunday December 20th: “Good News” Spotlight
News that a group of young entrepreneurs have launched a local taxi app, the Family Centre reached its $250,000 fundraising goal, Norwegian Cruises will return to Bermuda in 2017, Reggie Lamb scored an “exquisite” goal for his Mansfield club, and island author Colwyn Burchall Jr has released a new book were all some of the positive news stories from the past week.
In other good news stories, Jahkeem Hunt was named the Boys’ Soccer Team MVP at Wilbraham & Monson Academy in Massachusetts, Alexandra Mosher Studio Jewellery won the City of Hamilton Christmas Window Contest, Building Blocks Academy held a holiday cantata, Logic’s Premiere Cup winner Digicel chose the Sickle Cell Association as their charity of choice, and local author Rosheena Beek’s book ‘Mommy Says!’ is being donated to local schools.
Additional good news stories included Propertyskipper.com expanding to Guernsey, HSBC donating to the Salvation Army, Marsh and Guy Carpenter donating 80 holiday boxes to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Bermuda, Miss Bermuda Alyssa Rose making the top 13 in talent at the Miss World pageant, and the Bank of Butterfield donating $5,000 to the Coalition for the Protection of Children.
We also posted various community photo galleries, including coverage of Bermuda Motocross Club racing action, Chewstick’s latest island mural, the Bermuda Goodwill Golf Tournament, Christmas at Fairmont Southampton, the Christmas Boat Parade in Hamilton, and the opening of Edible Creations and the Garden Café at Botanical Gardens.
