Results: Triple Challenge Obstacle Course Race

March 24, 2016

The Bermuda Triple Challenge held its three-day event this past weekend, with 23 international athletes taking part.

The event also included internationally renowned obstacle course racing affiliates Val Smith [Director of Events USOCR from Atlanta], Spartan Race Emcee Anthony “T.C.” Carson, and OCR’s Photographer of the year Bob Mulholland.

Bill Springer, in Forbes Magazine, called the course not only “wicked hard,” but also noted that “The Bermuda Triple Challenge…may be the most aesthetically beautiful obstacle course race in the world.”

Dr. Reid Robinson, co-founder of the Bermuda Triple Challenge, said, “We were blown away with the participation numbers again this year, up 5-10% from 2015. We also expect the charitable funds raised to come in at over $60,000, which would be up roughly 10% again.

“Moreover, the feedback from participants was very positive; many thanks to the volunteers from the 6 supporting charities that help marshal the events and make the Bermuda Triple Challenge possible.”

A spokesperson said, “The Bermuda Triple Challenge’s unique scoring system incentivizes all participants to raise funds on behalf of the Bermuda Triple Challenge supporting charities, which, this year, were; The Reading Clinic, The Sunshine League, Knowledge Quest, Raleigh Bermuda, SCARS and Somerset Primary.

“Elite individuals and teams of two or four ran, jumped, crawled, swam and climbed their way to record a finishing time to determine who the fittest for charity are, but teams supplemented their physical prowess with their fund raising power. Every dollar raised by participants aided their points total as they competed for the top cash prizes.

“The weekend scoresheet was topped by Corporate Team The Oil Group. The Non-Corporate division winner was top by Clive Langley in the male division, FoxyDiel [Amy Fox and Meghan Diel] in the female division and Giggidty Giggidty [Zoe Roberts and Kyle James] in the mixed division.

“Also toping the scoresheets were the top junior team Tostitos [Evan Farrow, Yannick Hillier, Max De Ste Croix, and Zebedee Wakely] and the top services team SGTs from the Bermuda Regiment. Full results can be found online.”

Co-founder Jason Correia said, “The Bermuda Triple Challenge would not be possible without the tremendous support from the community and our major sponsors: KRyS Global, Chubb, Argus Group, Butterfield & Vallis and the Bermuda Tourism Authority.

“Buzz/Devil’s Isle also threw a delicious participant appreciation brunch after the Chubb Royal Challenge on Sunday and the Regiment provided outstanding support with crowd control the entire weekend, as well as obstacle set-up and a tasty BBQ after the KRyS Global Island Challenge on Saturday.”
