CoH To Correct “Kerp Clear” Marking In Hamilton

September 6, 2016

The Corporation of Hamilton said they will be correcting the “Kerp Clear” road marking located on Front Street, and explained that what happened was an “oversight” as the “worker only had one ‘E’ stencil so he used the ‘R’ as a place-marker when laying out the word with the intent to re-use the ‘E’ after he painted the first.”

“We’re pleased to say this wasn’t a case of the works crew not knowing how to spell the word ‘keep’. Neither was it a prank where they spelled it in ‘Bermujian’! “What happened was a simple, yet rather conspicuous oversight,” a CoH spokesperson said.

“The worker only had one ‘E’ stencil so he used the ‘R’ as a place-marker when laying out the word with the intent to re-use the ‘E’ after he painted the first. It seems auto-pilot kicked in somewhere between the strategy and execution and the ‘R’ was painted in.

“The error is being corrected in the next day or two as soon as weather allows! Oops!”

I would have been embarrassed to even give that explanation…just say, “it was an unfortunate error, soon to be corrected,” and leave it at that. Seems to me, before starting this (or any) project make sure all supplies (letters in this case,) were available and in order THEN start filling in. Oh for the old days…

If they were short of E then why not use the E in CLEAR? It was obviously a careless error. If another E was needed then leave space blank.
Same silly work at pedestrian crossing on Reid Street outside of Covenant House. Half painted in all black. Just cover the whole crossing in black. Geez.

    • Comrad Sinkyboat says:
