Comments Invited: Procurement Code of Practice

January 22, 2017

The Office of Project Management and Procurement today reminded the public they are invited to provide comments and feedback on the draft Code of Practice for Project Management and Procurement.

“The Code, once finalized, will form part of the Government’s enhanced good governance framework and will be followed by all public officers. The document outlines how they are to procure goods, services and works on behalf of the people of Bermuda,” a spokesperson said.

Premier Michael Dunkley today reiterated, “I encourage members of the public to take the time to review the details of this important document. Once adopted, it will impact service providers to the Government, including, contractors and vendors.

“The Code will further ensure there is full transparency, fairness and openness in the tendering process and that Government’s procurement activities achieve the best value for money in the expenditure of public funds.”

The Premier concluded, “Every resident of Bermuda has a vested interest in ensuring that the rules that govern the procurement of goods, services and works promote fair, equal and equitable treatment of all contractors, and that common, objective criteria are used in decision-making and contract awards.”

The Code can be found here, and the public is invited to submit their comments by no later than 31 January 2017, to procurement@gov.bm.
