St. David’s, St. George’s Colts, and Paget Lions all walked away with wins in recent First Division football action, while Wolves and X-Roads played to a draw.

Wolves 1 X-Roads 1

Salvaging a point in a 1 – 1 draw with Wolves at the BFA Field, coupled with the Young Men Social Club defeat to St. David’s, league leaders X-Roads are now just one point away from being crowned the 2016/17 First Division League Champions.

It was an emotional day for the Wolves players, as a moment of silence was held before the start of the match, following the loss of their former teammate Raymond Butterfield.

Wolves came out of the blocks looking to make it a memorable day and in the first minute they took the lead when Steven Bremar beat his marker and put the ball over an advancing X-Road’s goalkeeper.

X-Roads created a few chances, but they were constantly denied. It was in the 67th minute when Jorge Sanchez found the back of the net that drew X-Roads level and with no further goals scored the two teams shared the points.
