Tiara Derosa Wins Discus In North Carolina
Bermuda’s Tiara Derosa won the women’s discus with a throw of 44.72 meters at the Wingate Invitational meet held in North Carolina.
Derosa is the Bermuda national record holder, and recently won a medal at the 2017 Carifta Track and Field Championships in Curacao.
She attends Shaw University, and the school’s report said, “The Shaw University women’s outdoor track and field team picked up two event victories Friday at the Wingate Invitational meet held on the campus of Wingate University at the Irwin Belk Track and Field Complex.
“Freshman Tiara Derosa [Sandy's, Bermuda] won the women’s discus with a throw of 44.72 meters while senior Destinee Williams [Leesburg, FL] claimed the 100 meter hurdles event with a time of 14.40 for first place.
“In the 4×100 meter relay, the Lady Bears placed third overall with a time of 48.41. Runners consisted of Williams, junior Tearra Arrington [Newport News, VA], freshman Yanika McCrea [Trout Hall, Jamaica] and junior LaCherie Clarke [Garner, NC].
