Motorcycle, Items Stolen In Armed Robbery

June 10, 2019

A 20-year-old man was sitting on a motorcycle in Devonshire when he was approached by two males on another motorcycle — one holding that the police said “appeared to be a firearm” — and the suspects escaped with the man’s “personal items as well as the motorcycle he was sitting on.”

A police spokesperson said, “Around 8:30pm Sunday, June 9th police officers responded to a reported armed robbery.

“It appears that a 20-year-old man was sitting on a motorcycle in the parking lot of Bermuda Squash Racquets Association on Middle Road in Devonshire when he was approached by two unknown males on another motorcycle – with the rider demanding ‘everything’, while the pillion passenger held what appeared to be a firearm.

“The suspects – described as wearing dark coloured clothing and dark coloured helmets riding a dark coloured motorcycle – made good their escape [on separate motorcycles] heading towards Vesey Street with the 20-year-old man’s personal items, as well as the motorcycle he was sitting on [which the pillion passenger rode away]. However, the 20-year-old man was not hurt.

“Efforts continue to locate the culprits and any witnesses or members of the public with relevant information are asked to call the Criminal Investigation Department on 247-1744 at the earliest opportunity.”

While our crime still isn’t on the same scale as the rest of the world, this reminds me that Bermuda is no longer ‘another world’. Too bad.

With that description the keystone cops will never figure it out I’m afraid

Absolutely disgusting. Please judges, make examples of these low life predators. They are terrorists and should be treated as such. Anyone that has ever had their life threatened by knife or gunpoint knows you never forget it.

Lock em up and throw away the key.

Rather than sending kids away we should send criminals away to far flung jails. What do you think we could get for $80,000 a year in Siberia? There would be no recidivism I am pretty sure.

  4. MM says:

Frequent vehicle road checks will help to determine who is out and about on our roads. The authorities seem reluctant to do this unless a major incident has happened.

Put in law what the middle east has. Amputate their hands or arms for such violent theft. Problem solved. Teach those cretins a lesson, because they obviously need one they wont forget or take lightly. Stop patting crime on the back and step up to the plate like a real man.
