Self-Quarantine: Nine People ‘Non-Compliant’

March 28, 2020

None of the more than 2,900 Community Check Points identified any persons who were under quarantine, however the Community Advisory Home Visits identified nine people as “non-compliant to self-quarantine,” Minister of National Security Wayne Caines said at this evening’s press briefing.

Currently there are 1,481 people listed as being in ‘self-quarantine with public health supervision’ which the Government website explains by saying, “All persons entering Bermuda from 17 March 2020 are to self-quarantine with public health supervision.”

“If you are quarantined, you must not leave your house,” the ‘Self-Quarantine Guidance’ document [PDF] on the Government website states. “You can go outside your house and sit outside, if there are no other people in the immediate area. You must be one meter [three feet] from others.”

Name and shame the 9. Really, what a bunch of idiots

    • frank says:

people that are at home on self lockdown should have a flag or some type of poster on their door so we all know this is not about being poky but so the people that live close will know

  2. Consequences says:

Let us hope that these selfish individuals are held accountable for their actions. They are not above the law.

  3. Boston Whaler Owner says:

put them in the Stocks or chain them up on North Rock.

  4. Bio Warfare says:

Total disregard towards the People of Bermuda, jeopardizing everyone’s life.
    Lock them up!

  5. Ringmaster says:

They need to be named to allow anyone who knows them, or recognizes them and had close contact can seek medical attention/guidance. They are extremely stupid, inconsiderate and potentially exposing people to death. Clearly they don’t understand the serious nature of this pandemic. Hopefully all 9 are now under 24 hour supervised quarantine

  6. Curious says:

This is Bermuda, it depends who they are, regardless of who is the government.

    • Vortex says:

Totally agree. Bermudian, don’t do it again naughty boy, hope ya momma is well. Non-Bermudian, sent home in disgrace, loses everything. That’s 2 Bermudas.

    • frank says:

also I am beginning to wonder if having people running all over the island delivering food is a good idea medicine yes but a hamburger
what no one cooks anymore the less people out and about the better
      STAY HOME STAY HOME

  7. Kathy says:

Does quarantine also mean all the family members living in the same household are also quarantined for the same period? If not, what good is the quarantine if the family members are going to work and roaming about?

  8. Proven says:

This was the right approach – not traffic stops!

  9. Sara says:

Those 9 should waive their right to a ventilator.

  10. What's being done says:

What’s being done about those not following rules?

Can we use a hotel since mostly all are not open and have them stay on a room with security supervising for the two weeks? Not a luxury stay, the 3 meals a day and they pay? Anyone traveling right now is silly anyway so I’m sure they can afford 3 meals a day while under supervision.

We obviously can’t expect people to follow suit being they’re untouchable. It’s sad the nonchalantness people show. “It’s just a silly virus” that has a lot of people off work.

  11. Awakening says:

Government needs to publish the names of all people that arrived in Bermuda since March 7 . Separated by arrival form of transport flight nu etc.

Even though forced quarantine did not start until the 17 of March cases presented are from previous dates and giving that in Iceland 50 % of all tested are positive but sho no symptoms. Gives room for concern. Because the lack of testing and adherence to social distancing, and quarantine once we believe the worst has passed and lift restrictions cases can go by unnoticed until a vulnerable group is exposed by someone that did not know was a carrier and a catastrophic event would begin to unfold locally.

  12. wahoo says:

Seems to me that the road side stops by regiment and police should included a point and shoot thermometer since fever is a symptom. I fear that the 22 cases so far a the tip of the iceberg.

  13. Curious says:

The family members are quarantined also. If you came off a flight after March 17th then you are quarantined for 14 days. Nobody else in your family is allowed to go out.

  14. Charlly X says:

This #19 has caused such a mess .But how can you tell Some Bermudians what to do ? In Hind sight we all have an opinion on …… Everything ! How could we have Quarantined 2000 people off the last 5 Flights in ??? That’s the Reality !!! So ???? How many chances of Unknownly Transferring the Virus#19 ??? That what we are working with!!!! So keep yuh smart @¢¢£$ home . Wash yuh hands frequently . Practice social Distancing!!!
