‘Sanitizing Of City Fixtures Has Been Heightened’
“The sanitizing of City fixtures, including trash bins, crosswalk buttons, car park pay stations and street furniture, on both the sidewalks and in the City parks, has been heightened,” the City said today, adding that “all public bathrooms are currently sanitized and replenished with soap every two hours.”
A spokesperson said, “The City of Hamilton reassures the public that in the light of the recent global health crisis, City of Hamilton services are operating as per normal and the City is implementing contingency plans as deemed necessary at this time.
“With the recent outbreak of Coronavirus in other parts of the world, the City confirms that its services are not impacted at this time. It reminds the public that they must do their part and use best practices, when it comes to matters of prevention and protection.
“The cleanliness of the City is of utmost importance during these unchartered times and until alternate directives from a Government body is received, essential service such as refuse collection will continue to operate on a daily basis.
“The sanitizing of City fixtures, including trash bins, crosswalk buttons, car park pay stations and street furniture, on both the sidewalks and in the City parks, has been heightened. All public bathrooms are currently sanitized and replenished with soap every two hours. All sanitation vehicles continue to be thoroughly cleaned after each daily pick-up.
“The City has contingency and preparedness plans in place with regard to its staff and will prioritize the maintenance of the City and its services should Bermuda experience a significant impact due to the Coronavirus.
“The City encourages everyone to remain informed during these uncertain times and to heed the advice of the Bermuda Government.
