MSA & CedarBridge Win KFC Video Contest

KFC Bermuda announced the winners of its inaugural School Video Commercial Contest, with the winning students from Mount Saint Agnes and CedarBridge Academy earning thousands of dollars in cash prizes for their creative commercials.

A spokesperson said, “KFC is celebrating the success of its inaugural School Video Commercial Contest, an initiative designed to encourage creativity while supporting digital media education in Bermuda’s schools. Each school was informed that cash prizes would be awarded to 1st, 2nd and 3rd place submissions.

“Students were invited from eight [8] high schools to create original 30, 60 or 90-second commercials promoting KFC and its products, showcasing their storytelling, filming and editing skills. Entries were received from Cedarbridge and MSA with eight [8] submissions in total; six [6] entries from Cedarbridge Academy and two [2] from Mount Saint Agnes.

“Following a review of all submissions by the KFC Management Team, the top prizes were awarded to the winning teams, with the prize money to be presented to their respective multimedia, marketing and communications departments:

  • First Place: MSA – $4,000 – D’Angelo Williams, Jorai Laurenceo & Le-Troy Trott
  • Second Place: Cedarbridge Academy – $3,000 – Edward Smith
  • Third Place: Cedarbridge Academy – $2,000 – Andryah Fishington & Michaiah Bremar

“In addition to the cash prizes awarded to the winning schools, KFC also presented a KFC Gift Card to every student who submitted an entry in recognition of their creativity, enthusiasm and participation.”

“We were impressed by the creativity, talent and enthusiasm demonstrated by all of the students who participated,” said Ginene Haslam, General Manager of KFC Bermuda. “This competition gave students the opportunity to apply their digital media and multimedia skills in a real-world marketing project, and it was a pleasure watching and judging the submissions. We congratulate all of the students, particularly our winning teams, for their great work.”

Ms. Haslam added, “At KFC, we’re proud to support educational initiatives that encourage creativity, collaboration and innovation. Investing in our young people is one of the ways we can give back to the community, and we’re delighted to have partnered with local schools on this exciting project.”

Building on the success of this year’s competition, KFC plans to host the contest again next year and is encouraging even more schools to participate.

“We hope to see even more schools involved next year,” said Ms. Haslam. “There is so much creative talent across the island, and we look forward to providing another opportunity for students to showcase their skills while connecting with a well-known local brand. Supporting the next generation of creative professionals is something we’re excited to continue.”
