Reggae Singer Mishka: New Album, MTV & More
Bermudian reggae musician Mishka is making waves; dropping a new album today, being featured on music powerhouse’s MTV website and counting a top American actor as one of his biggest fans.
Mishka’s latest album, titled ‘Talk About,’ was released this Tuesday on iTunes, and will hit stores worldwide today [March 30]
Music runs in his blood, as Mishka is the younger brother of Heather Nova, an accomplished singer who has sold over 2 million records worldwide.
In 2009 his album Above the Bones appeared on Billboard’s reggae chart and earned iTunes’ Best New Artist honor. He also appeared on the television shows “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” and “The Rachael Ray Show.”
Back in 1999, actor Matthew McConaughey was vacationing in Jamaica when he heard the Mishka’s music and became an instant fan. Mishka’s music hit Mr. McConaughey so profoundly that the movie star went to extreme lengths to track him down saying:
I kinda had an APB out looking for anything Mishka. A guy in my office said, ‘There’s a guy named Mishka that’s at the House of Blues here in Hollywood, so we’ll go see if it’s him.
Mishka is the first artist signed to Mr. McConaughey’s “J.K. Livin” label. According to MTV, Mr. McConaughey launched his music label solely to promote Mishka’s music.
