Photos: 2010 Robinson’s Fishing Tournament

July 22, 2010

Although the 11ft shark was the most ‘talked about’ catch at the 2010 Robinson’s Marina Fishing Tournament, there were many more, with literally hundreds of fish being caught by the 20 odd teams participating in the event.

The tournament started in 2003, and has grown bigger each year and is now extremely popular amongst both the anglers and the onlookers. There are four different categories [masters, juniors, mens, ladies] and Manager Malcolm Swan told us that the young people are often brought by their fathers and like to compete against each other. Winners receive trophies, a plaque and the all important “bragging rights” for the year.

Immediately after the weigh-in there is food on offer compromising just about every typical Bermudian dish you can think of and more. The event is organized in an old school Bermuda way, the food is all cooked and donated by neighborhood residents and the fishermen each donate two fish to immediately cook, and all those in attendance are treated to a free meal.
