Aug 14: Senior’s Soca Night Planned

August 5, 2010

Bermuda’s seniors have a chance to get out and party to the sounds of soca music, as the Activities Department for Bermuda Hospitals Board’s Continuing Care Unit (CCU) is inviting all seniors in the community to attend its Senior Soca event on Saturday night, August 14th at the Bermuda Industrial Union (BIU) in Hamilton. The evening will include festive music, dancing and socialising and is being offered free to all seniors. Activities will kick off at 7:00pm and will run until 10:00pm. Light refreshments will be served.

“Events like this give seniors a chance to get out and do something exciting,” said Capri Smith, CCU’s Activities Director. “They enjoy visiting with others and dancing provides a great form of exercise.”

Kereen Richards, Director of Continuing Care Services for Bermuda Hospitals Board, said, “We recognise how important it is for seniors to socialise, especially those who live in the hospital. Events and activities are planned throughout the year so seniors won’t feel isolated or lonely. Some seniors are separated from their friends and relatives because they are placed in different nursing facilities. These events provide an opportunity for seniors to socialise with people they love and miss.”
